Good morning #evergreen! |
08:02 |
kmlussier |
I'm guessing a little additional caffeine will be needed today as procrastinators finish up getting ready for next week! |

isn't sure that serflog and pastebot needed the additional caffeine. |

Sometimes, this strange thing happens when logging into the web client where I log in under the workstation for one org unit, but the label in the upper right corner of the screen displays a different org unit. |
08:38 |
kmlussier |
Well, I guess I should say it shows a different workstation, but I use the same workstation name for all of my org units, so that's what the visible difference is for me. |
08:40 |
kmlussier |
But all of the interfaces recognize the org unit I used when logging in. If I click the 'add volumes' link, for example, it uses the correct org unit. It only seems to be a problem with that one display element. Clearing the cache doesn't fix it either. |

kmlussier: a belated thought on 260b -- IIRC it is possible for a publisher to be an individual and not an institution, which may point to why it's in the author fingerprint. I think AACR used this for self-published works. I'm less familiar with what RDA calls for though. |

abneiman: That's a thought. Thanks! |
09:47 |
miker |
kmlussier / abneiman: I'm pretty sure 260b is included because I asked a PINES cataloger "hey, if there's just no author field in a record, what should we include to disambiguate works with the same title?" back in 2004-ish |
09:49 |
kmlussier |
miker: In that case, then, we probably should include the 264b. But will the system grab the 700 author before it gets to 260? In my experience, it goes through the fields in the order they're on the MARC record. |
09:51 |
miker |
the intent is to get them in xpath order. it /used/ to do that, but I admit I haven't tested since we moved to the built-in xpath() function (in my defence, that's because it's the same code, just in core PG rather than an extension -- both versions use libxml2) |
09:52 |
miker |
it iterates through "|" separated expessions, executing each and returning the set returned by each. then we just take the first that comes out of the function |
09:53 |
miker |
also, +1 to 264b (or any other additions -- /still/ not a cataloger ;) ) |
09:53 |
kmlussier |
miker: It's been a couple of years since I've looked at it. I'll test it further to see if I can confirm what the current behavior is. |
09:54 |
kmlussier |
Also not a cataloger, though I did head a tech services department once for about a year. |

interesting - loading the Hatch extension into Firefox using web-ext ( https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Getting_started_with_web-ext ) appears at first blush to Just Work™ |
11:29 |
csharp |
berick: have you played with that at all? |

well - spoke too soon - the printers aren't showing - now looking for the FF equivalent of extension background page |
11:32 |
csharp |
in any case, it looks like the extension itself appears to work |
11:36 |
csharp |
I guess it helps if you actually have hatch installed on the workstation itself :-/ |
11:36 |

ok - hatch installed - still not seeing the printers though |
11:43 |
berick |
csharp: i have not. curious what the extension console reports. |
11:44 |
csharp |
yeah, that's what I'm looking for right now |
11:46 |
csharp |
ah - found it |
11:48 |
csharp |
oh - I skipped a step |
11:52 |
csharp |
hmm - trying to find where to copy org.evergreen_ils.hatch.json in the .mozilla file heirarchy |
11:53 |
csharp |
ah /usr/lib/mozilla/native-messaging-hosts/ |
11:54 |
csharp |
looks like there are options: |
11:54 |
csharp |
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Native_manifests#Manifest_location |
11:55 |
csharp |
looks like we're going for per-user config based on the chrome installation method |
11:59 |
csharp |
berick: https://pastebin.com/1nZPrBih |
12:00 |
csharp |
I can see the issue - it' |
12:01 |
csharp |
s expecting something other than "allowed_origins" - either that or we need to add a line for something firefox-y |
12:02 |
csharp |
yeah it's looking for allowed_extensions |
12:05 |
csharp |
hmm - maybe a different native manifest for firefox is required - I was trying to avoid creating a new file |
12:06 |
csharp |
hooray! |
12:06 |
berick |
that sounds promising.. |
12:07 |
csharp |
so after removing the "allowed_origins" section and adding "allowed_extensions", it sees my printer |
12:07 |
berick |
nice! |
12:07 |

and no more barfing in the background page |
12:12 |

something's still not right because test print stuff is non-responsive, but I need a lunch break |

kmlussier, rhamby: if you didn't know, "sched" seems to be spamming twitter on your behalf. If you did know, well... then "spam" might be the wrong term. |

jeff: I sent out a single one from it, is it sending more than that? |

miker: I'm hoping you can assist me with something. I'm logging long-running queries, well, actually, all sql queries so that I can grab the core query for a search. Things look different in 3.1. Could you tell me where I would find the core query in this paste? https://pastebin.com/E4aHbxHd |

I thought it might be somewhere around "Completed canonicalized SEARCH IS", but I'm mostly just seeing queries for facets and for highlighting. |
