hey jeff, you've probably already found this, but there's an edit_date field on actor.passwd. re: this old IRC log kmlussier just referenced in -general: http://irc.evergreen-ils.org/evergreen/2017-09-27#i_327106 |
11:19 |

miker: npm rebuild; npm update; npm install, then continue |
14:44 |
miker |
csharp: thanks, attempting now! |
14:44 |
csharp |
not sure where the mojo is in all that |
14:44 |
berick |
rm -r node_modules ; npm install ; is another favorite of mine. |
14:45 |
csharp |
I expect 'rebuild' does something rm-ish |
14:45 |
miker |
well, that fixed the tree-control problem |
14:46 |
miker |
but it's still failing on angular-sanitize |
14:47 |
berick |
miker: the angular-sanitize issue happens running 'npm' or in the browser? |
14:48 |
miker |
berick: npm run build-prod |
14:48 |
berick |
miker: hm. does 'npm run build' also fail? |
14:48 |
miker |
the link above has 2 errors, but now I'm only getting the angular-sanitize one |
14:49 |
miker |
berick: I have not attempted just build ... is the readme for 3.1 out of date, maybe? |
14:49 |
miker |
berick: alas, npm run build fails in the same way as build-prod |
14:49 |
berick |
build is the same as build-prod except it skips the uglify step |
14:50 |
berick |
ok, well that's good I suppose |
14:50 |
berick |
just trying to rule out uglify |
14:51 |
berick |
fwiw, on current master, i'm not having any build (or build-prod) issues. |
14:51 |
berick |
i guess next question is to confirm node actually fetched the modules and they exist in node_modules where expected |
14:52 |
miker |
this is current master... on jessie with nodesource's installer |
14:52 |
miker |
and, I don't see angular-sanitize |
14:52 |

npm ERR! npm v3.10.10 |
14:53 |
miker |
from the error output |
14:54 |
miker |
berick: just rm -f node_modules and then npm install? |
14:54 |
berick |
yeah, kill the whole dir. |
14:54 |
berick |
-r, i guess |
14:54 |
* miker |
will do attempt to mirror your test |
14:55 |
berick |
test succeeded here |
14:58 |
* miker |
taps fingers, waiting on npm to finish up |
14:59 |
miker |
berick: that was it... must have been a stale angular, I guess? and npm didn't want to update it with npm-update, maybe? anyway, thanks! |
15:00 |
berick |
miker: yeah, something like that. |

I'll just go with berick's approach in the future |
15:07 |
berick |
something I was going propose at the EG conf was a node depedency maintainer. someone who does a clean 'npm install' at regular intervals then posts their node_modules directory to evergreen-ils.org. then devs (and the QA bots) can just fetch the directory. |
15:07 |
berick |
or if we don't want to go that far, someone who regularly makes clean builds then pins the /exact/ version numbers in package.json |
15:08 |
gmcharlt |
berick: I think that's a good idea, but particularly tied to the build process |
15:09 |
gmcharlt |
(rationale: we may /want/ folks working in master to be exposed to the bleeding edge to run into issues ooner) |
15:09 |
gmcharlt |
er, sooner |
15:09 |
berick |
true |

I've been looking at bundling known-good node_modules locally to avoid unexpected npm related problems during install/update. Having a community-supported version of that would be handy. |
16:50 |
Dyrcona |
Well, I now feel less welcome on the general list, even though I have a MLS and I think I know "library speak" pretty well. |

I can't think of a nice to ask the "different languages" talk to end, so I'm expressing a little frustration about it here. |
16:51 |
kmlussier |
gmcharlt: Do you have any opinions on backporting bug 1737016 to 3.0? |
16:51 |
pinesol_green |
Launchpad bug 1737016 in Evergreen 3.0 "Acq: Funding Source codes should be unique to owners, not the entire system" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1737016 |
16:52 |
Dyrcona |
And, I thought kmlussier was not signed in or I would have spared the channel those last two lines. :) |
16:53 |
kmlussier |
That's okay. You can vent frustration wherever you like. |
16:53 |
kmlussier |
Well, I take that back. It depends on how you vent that frustration. :) |
16:54 |
Dyrcona |
:) |
16:54 |
bshum |
*cough* subtract karma from points *cough, cough* |
16:54 |
gmcharlt |
not recommended venting: https://www.reddit.com/r/CatastrophicFailure/comments/3z7vj7/the_result_of_a_boiler_explosion_on_a_steam/ |
16:56 |
gmcharlt |
kmlussier: given that it (potentially) means updates to consortial acq procedures, this feels slightly more on the enhancement side |
16:57 |
berick |
so that's what the inside of the internet looks like |
16:57 |
gmcharlt |
that said, I won't object if you choose to backport it to rel_3_0 |
16:57 |
kmlussier |
gmcharlt: No, that's okay. I'll update the remove the milestones. |
16:57 |
Dyrcona |
gmcharlt++ berick++ |
16:58 |
kmlussier |
I think it's a nice enhancement, but given that our libraries have been working with unique funding sources for years, getting it in a little earlier won't make a big difference. |
