09:04 Dyrcona I'm getting live test failures this morning with a freshly installed concerto.
09:06 Dyrcona I'll recreate the database and try again, but I expect the same failures.
09:14 Dyrcona So, because of that, I will not push this branch to master, but I'll add my signoffs and update the bug.
09:15 phasefx incidentally, the qa tester is down; I'll find tuits to fix it next week
09:16 phasefx maybe go ahead and make the transition to Jessie
09:17 phasefx or stretch?
09:20 Dyrcona Or, xenial? :)
09:21 Dyrcona I don't think branch caused the failures, but I'm erring on the side of caution.
09:21 Dyrcona I will add the test output to a bug comment.
09:25 * phasefx uses xenial :)

09:54 kmlussier @marc 246
09:54 pinesol_green kmlussier: A form of the title appearing on different parts of an item or a portion of the title proper, or an alternative form of the title when the form differs significantly from the title contained in field 245. (Repeatable) [a,b,f,g,h,i,n,p,5,6,8]

10:40 miker kmlussier: title|alternative ;)
10:42 kmlussier miker: Yeah, I should probably know these off the top of my head by now. :) As it turns out, I had to go to loc.gov anyway because what I was really interested in were the indicators.
10:43 kmlussier Speaking of which, adding a link to the corresponding loc page would make the @marc plugin even more useful.
11:02 * Dyrcona has to reboot because ip and systemd have turned Linux into Windows, almost.

11:17 jeff systemctl enable zabbix-agent
11:17 jeff that is to say, good morning.
11:17 berick eh
11:17 berick heh
11:17 berick jeff: at least freenode is now being monitored
11:21 ngf42 offtopic, but zabbix vs nagios. any opinions?
11:27 * bshum always liked zabbix, but hasn't looked at either lately :\
11:31 * Dyrcona can't use a touchpad apparently.
11:31 * Dyrcona should turn off tap to click, despite how convenient it sometimes is.
11:32 * Dyrcona also wants to know where the "Disable while typing" setting went.
11:33 Dyrcona I swear, every "upgrade" just gets worse than the last one.
11:33 Dyrcona Every Ubuntu upgrade that is.
11:36 Dyrcona Though, maybe I should blame Gnome for the touchpad settings?
11:41 kmlussier The disable while typing setting doesn't work as well as I would like on my laptop.
11:41 Dyrcona Nah, it never did, but it's better than not having one.
11:42 abowling joined #evergreen
11:43 kmlussier Dyrcona: I got excited when you mentioned the setting because I thought it was the answer to my typing problems. Then I found out it had been enabled all along.

11:47 Dyrcona kmlussier: I heard that sound they used to play on '70s game shows when the contestant lost when I read that.
11:48 kmlussier lol
11:49 ngf42 Dyrcona++
11:49 ngf42 bshum++
11:50 Dyrcona Well, I don't have an opinion on nagios vs. zabbix, but I've only ever used nagios and icinga.
11:51 bshum ngf42: We tried using Zabbix for awhile at my last place of work.  Then we ended up setting up Nagios/Icinga for notifications (because it's pretty good at it),and then Munin for stat monitoring/trending
11:51 bshum Zabbix did all of that, but it didn't play nice with certain other services we wanted to monitor/setup
11:51 bshum And it was a bit heavier on the resource end of things
11:51 Dyrcona We use nagios at CW MARS.
11:52 bshum I think Bmagic's group used Zabbix more
11:52 bshum Or at least Justin did
11:52 ngf42 "web-centric" configs of zabbix frighten me. i like text. easier to put into version control.
11:52 bshum At some point
11:52 ngf42 but i haven't looked into it
11:52 bshum Heh, I had the opposite reaction. Having a web GUI to set stuff up was an easier "sell" to my IT management at the time
11:52 bshum Just nobody wanted to set it up, so we ended up setting it aside in the end
11:53 bshum Bought and read a nice book about Zabbix though
11:53 ngf42 nagios configs are a nightmare, to be sure.
11:53 bshum So I can leave that knowledge on my resume, just in case :)
11:54 ngf42 thanks though. i'll put it on my ever-growing list of "things to try"
11:56 * Dyrcona glances over his shoulder at the boxes full of lists of things to try. :)
11:57 Dyrcona and then decides it is time for lunch.

12:21 pastebot "miker" at 64.57.241.14 pasted "I won't drag bug 1754455 further off topic, but rhamby, something like this..." (29 lines) at http://paste.evergreen-ils.org/566

12:24 miker Dyrcona: fwiw, I wasn't attempting to derail, and I think what rhamby was saying was just supporting "let's strip the $0s!" ... a +1
12:24 rhamby miker: seems, sane unnest the $0s and only return those where the control number identifier matches the setting
12:24 miker sorry for the confusion, though
12:24 miker rhamby: right
12:25 Dyrcona miker: I don't think anyone ever intends to derail a bug, but they often get bogged down in extraneous discussions, in this case aided by a poorly worded description.

15:04 csharp hmm - pondering whether we should trim() report filter input strings by default
15:04 csharp I just copied and pasted a TCN from the web client and got no results because it included a leading space
15:04 csharp trim() took care of it
15:04 csharp I can't think of a use case where the end user would want/expect the string to make a difference
15:05 csharp maybe a "trimmed string" transform?
15:06 csharp given osrf json syntax as I understand it, should be relatively simple to do, right?
15:07 csharp anyway, not a major issue, but thinking about it since I just hit it
15:07 csharp @monologue
15:07 pinesol_green csharp: Your current monologue is at least 8 lines long.
15:09 csharp I guess it's a complimentary idea to "first contigous non-space string" which anticipates leading whitespace in the data in the db
15:10 csharp *contiguous
15:10 miker csharp: you want to trim report parameter input coming from the user?
15:13 csharp yeah

15:17 miker csharp: I say, go to town and add btrim, and parameterized versions, too
15:20 jeff something like call numbers starting with 'FOO ' or "stat cat starting with 'Grand ' are some of the times we use significant trailing whitespace in that context.
15:45 csharp miker: awesome! - thanks - I'll test with this when I get a sec
17:07 berick kmlussier: proposal for the next annual community survey:  replace the number/count questions with a series of SQL SELECT commands we can all run :)
17:10 kmlussier berick: I've never filled out a survey with SQL SELECT statements.
17:14 berick kmlussier: i'm kidding a little bit, but it would be kind of neat to have a way for people to easily generate the numbers from their databases.
17:14 berick and since we all have the same databases...
17:15 berick and now i'm going down the rabbit hole of a stock Community Survey reports folder..
