@later tell Dyrcona Well Bionic Beaver should be fun. PG10 is packaged by default. |

Sounds about right to me. |

Everything I know about linux networking, I guess I'll have to throw out the window with 18.04 :( |

Windows: Heavy preference on UI, odd config file formats. MacOS: handy UI or very capable and opaque CLI, you don't get to touch the files. Admins: "At least there's nothing that combines the worst of both." Linux: "sudo hold my beer." |

Hmm, I think ejabberd in 18.04 is requiring TLS as part of the authentication mechanism now. And that's prevening opensrf from talking to it, since it's trying to do a plain auth connection. |
11:37 |
bshum |
Still poking at logs and config to see where's what |
11:38 |
dbwells |
bshum: Is that different than the OpenSRF Xenial instructions for ejabberd, "Change auth_password_format to plain" ? |
11:38 |
bshum |
dbwells: Yeah, there's more stuff within the protocol listener definition now |
11:38 |
bshum |
Stuff like starttls required: true |
11:39 |
bshum |
I'm comparing the ejabberd.yml config from xenial to bionic for differences to see if I can learn more |
11:39 |
bshum |
used to be like starttls: optional |
11:40 |
dbwells |
Sounds good, thanks for forging ahead. |

It's still pretty early, 18.04 is only alpha2, beta next month sometime |
11:40 |
bshum |
But Dyrcona and I talked about looking at it more soon anyways. |

Hello! I'm running into a 500 Internal Server Error with my instance of Evergreen. This installation has been working for several months with minimal problems and to my knowledge nothing changed server-side between the last time I accessed the database and now. Do people have advice on how I can diagnose and fix this problem? |
12:11 |
hbain |
(I attempted a server restart already but it doesn't seem to have helped) |

hbain: errors like that should appear in either the apache (by default, /var/log/apache2/error.log) or opensrf logs (by default, /openils/var/log/osrfsys.log) |

idly wonders what it would take for a firefox hatch extension |
13:13 |
csharp |
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/WebExtensions/Porting_a_Google_Chrome_extension looks interesting |
13:22 |
JBoyer |
csharp, it requires telepathy so far as I can tell. I modified hatch to do all the things and still FF says to me "Hmm, I don't know anything about any extension by that name, nope, nope, nope..." |
13:22 |
JBoyer |
I kind of wonder if there's some path issue or something but from what I can tell they just wholesale imported a couple c++ files from Chrome so I would hope that's not it... |
13:22 |
csharp |
JBoyer: interesting. |
13:23 |
JBoyer |
It's been a while since I looked though, it may be time to try again. |
13:23 |
csharp |
I just created the .zip file for Hatch, but with a .crx file extension and uploaded it to https://www.extensiontest.com/ - it didn't error out, but never returned a result either |
13:24 |
JBoyer |
Yeah, I'm vastly overstating the logging responses you'll get with that 1 line. (I downloaded the dev edition so you can just load it straight off the filesystem and it just won't do anything) |
13:25 |
csharp |
ok |
13:26 |
JBoyer |
Another fun difference, errors aren't reported the same way between the two; you've got to look at 2-3 different objects to find out why the socket is actually closing. :/ |
13:26 |
* JBoyer |
should have made more notes. |

sounds like a good project for hackfest-ish times at the conference |

ugh - add-on was blocking the extension-checker page |
13:38 |
csharp |
but it looks like my .crx is not in the correct format |
13:38 |
csharp |
anyway, moving on for now ;-) |

I remember discussion/a bug about metabib.full_rec and friends not being deleted when a biblio.record_entry row is deleted - does that ring a bell for anyone? |
14:45 |
JBoyer |
csharp, I was part of that. If memory serves it resulted in neither a bug nor branch. :/ |
14:45 |
JBoyer |
(As in, I had intended to do one or both but haven't) |
14:46 |
JBoyer |
I wanted to jettison everything related to searching from metabib to save tons of space and potentially speed up searching. |
14:48 |
JBoyer |
(If the setting that governs searching for deleted items permits, obviously) |
15:19 |
csharp |
JBoyer: that's what I was remembering - I was associating it with you somehow ;-) |

Bmagic: I've not used that script, but I'm willing to test - what's a good use case/test case for it? |
15:51 |
Bmagic |
csharp: couple of steps. Create a text file that contains your "used_tcns" with psql -U dbuser -h dbhost -d database -c "select tcn_value from biblio.record_entry where not deleted" | perl -npe 's/^\s+//;' | sed '1,2d' > used_tcns |

it's probably fixed in 18.04 :) LOL |
16:19 |

or rather 5.14.2 (shipped with 12.04) |
