Hey, there we go. I liked that too much to let pinesol forget it. |

And I thought that removing shapers was part of the SOP when messing with ejabberd.cfg, but I was mistaken. Disabled now and will keep an eye on things. |

Huh. Seems my playbooks aren't built to restart opensrf if the only change is ejabberd config. Oops. |

JBoyer: if removing shapers is something that should generally be done for OpenSRF / Evergreen, let's get a doc bug open! |

Hi everyone :) |
10:02 |
Freddy_Enrique |
One question, is it posible to upload local scanned images to my record? |
10:07 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: Patron record or bibliographic record? |
10:08 |
Freddy_Enrique |
Uhm, actually... both. I only meant bibliographic at first but now I´m curious |
10:10 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: Are you using the local scanned image as a book jacket cover? If so, there is support for that. |
10:12 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: One consortium I work with also has a customization that allows them to put a URL for a digital image in the record. The image is the cataloged resource and will display when you pull the record up in the catalog. |

Like this one: http://evergreen.noblenet.org/eg/opac/record/2056420 |
10:15 |
Freddy_Enrique |
Its really useful the URL, but there are cases when the book doesnt have a online cover and I have to do it manually. |
10:16 |
Freddy_Enrique |
So, let me get this straight, In order to upload a cover image to my record I have to make some configuration first, right? |
10:18 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: Yes, then for book jacket covers, there is a way to do that in Evergreen without customizations. But, unfortunately, I don't know the details. |
10:19 |
Freddy_Enrique |
I understand, thanks <kmlussier> |
10:21 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: This might help - http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.12/_including_locally_hosted_content_in_your_public_interface.html |

Freddy_Enrique |
kmlussier, the link you just gave me is the method without customization right? |
10:30 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: Yes |
10:31 |
Freddy_Enrique |
It's useful, but a little complex. The library staff must know how to work in Linux |
10:32 |
Freddy_Enrique |
For future updates, will it be posible to upload cover images directly from the staff interface? |
10:33 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: You could file a wishlist bug in Launchpad for it. Have you used Launchpad before? |
10:34 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: In the meantime, I don't think staff would need to know Linux to upload the images. They could probably upload them via FTP. But I agree, it would be easier to upload directly from the client. |
10:35 |
Freddy_Enrique |
You are right!! via Winscp for instance |
10:35 |
Freddy_Enrique |
Launchpad.... |
10:35 |
kmlussier |
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen |
10:36 |
kmlussier |
It's where we file bug reports, but we also put feature requests in there. |
10:37 |
kmlussier |
As with anything, though, feature requests generally are done if a developer has a need to develop it or if somebody hires or contracts with a developer to do the work. |
10:39 |
Freddy_Enrique |
So I can get to that page in order to adopt any additional tools for the evergreen, and also fix some bugs. |
10:44 |
kmlussier |
Freddy_Enrique: Yes, absolutely. We also have some bugs with a 'bitesize' tag that should be smaller bugs to help new contributors get started. https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bugs?field.tag=bitesize |

Speaking of photos for patron records, I wonder if they display in the web client. We don't use them, so I never thought of testing them. |

thinks I may not have actually loaded the db modification that I thought I was testing. |

Freddy_Enrique |
uhm... I want to check the link I was given a minutes ago and cant see it in this chat... What can I do in order to keep the conversations made in this chat? And to keep track of them? |
11:56 |
Freddy_Enrique |
Im currently using freenode in my google chrome browser |
11:56 |
bshum |
Freddy_Enrique: The main channel is being logged at http://irc.evergreen-ils.org/evergreen , so if you click on the day there, you can view the log for today's chat details thus far |
11:57 |
bshum |
As far as logging it locally, freenode in the browser wouldn't track past conversations |
11:57 |
bshum |
You'd have to get a local IRC client application that kept track of chat |
12:01 |
Freddy_Enrique |
Thanks, Just found it. So I´ve gotta install one IRC app. Im on it |
12:04 |
Dyrcona |
Freddy_Enrique: Well, you don't have to, but it is nicer to use a real IRC client if you'll be in here much. |

dbs, I'm not 100% sure this is making a difference yet, and we had turned our shapers up to 500000 or so. (That's why I thought the docs already mentioned them; they do, they just don't say to remove them) |
14:48 |
JBoyer |
If it looks like this has made a difference I'll definitely put one in. |

Slipping in a last question for the day: Does anyone have any experiences to share regarding the success or failure of the xul client auto-updating after upgrading to 2.12? |
16:49 |
mmorgan |
We had a number of auto-updates fail during our last upgrade. |
16:50 |
jeffdavis |
mmorgan: Auto-update worked well for us in our 2.10->2.12 upgrade (also for 2.8->2.10). As a rule, partial update fails but full update works. |
16:57 |
* mmorgan |
is not sure what is meant by partial vs. full. |

mmorgan: partial tries to install only the files that have changed since the previous build; full just does a full overwrite |
17:02 |
mmorgan |
Is that an option when building the self-updating client? |
17:13 |
kmlussier |
mmorgan: I don't know the answer to your question, but I know when a partial update has failed for me in the past, I'm presented with the option to do the full update. |
17:14 |
mmorgan |
Oh, ok, yes I'm familiar with that. |
