"free" |
10:25 |
Dyrcona |
If you have Kindle Unlimited. |
10:25 |
Dyrcona |
There are lots of free Python ebooks, though. |
10:26 |
phasefx |
it's part of kindle unlimited, but should be free without it |
10:26 |
phasefx |
I may have misunderstood the deal, though |
10:27 |

difference between Read for Free and Buy Now |
10:28 |
phasefx |
still need an Amazon, and that has an information cost at the very least, and might even require to have a method of payment associated with the account. So you guys are right, "free" :) |
10:28 |

I'm not fond of the Kindle platform. |

Amazon account, even |

I'll stick to sharing humblebundle links in the future |
10:28 |

I've tried with a title or two. I think I prefer plain-old epub. |

fun. state upgraded INN-Reach, NCIP message format changed. NISO NCIP website seems to have locked the current "Implementor Profiles" behind a members-only login. |

tends to use non-DRM'ed mobi (converted from epub if needed) for his kindle, mostly from humble bundle |
10:32 |
Dyrcona |
I use FBReader on Android and Linux mostly. I use the Android Kindle app and the web interface for the couple of Kindle titles that I "bought." |

jeff: The "fun" of NCIP. :( |

Self check question: Is there any way to stop items from being checked out via selfcheck other than with the ou settings: circ.selfcheck.auto_override_checkout_events and circ.selfcheck.block_checkout_on_copy_status? |
15:18 |
jeff |
mmorgan: you mean "we don't want items of type X to circulate via self checkout"? |
15:19 |
mmorgan |
Well, specifically, these are empty cases, the discs being kept at the circ desk. |
15:20 |
|

15:21 |
mmorgan |
So we can put an "X" somewhere, if selfcheck can make use of it. |
15:21 |
mmorgan |
We're already automatically overriding copy alerts. |
15:22 |
mmorgan |
And the only status we're blocking is Library use only. |
15:22 |
gmcharlt |
hmm, STAFF_C standing penality containing the number of discs as the payload? |
15:25 |
mmorgan |
gmcharlt: Not following how that would apply to the items |

there's also the stuff in bug 1676608, but that doesn't help you right now |

Launchpad bug 1676608 in Evergreen "Copy Alert Persistence and Suppression Matrix" [Wishlist,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1676608 |
15:30 |
Dyrcona |
Yeah, there isn't really a way to do that right now that I am aware of. |
15:31 |
mmorgan |
Definitely good stuff in that bug :) |
15:32 |
mmorgan |
The only thing I can come up with is creating a status for these, and blocking that status in the ou setting. |
15:48 |
jonadab |
Status: Dummy-on-shelf ? |
15:49 |
jonadab |
I mean, that's a horribly ineligant kludge, but. |
15:51 |
* mmorgan |
was thinking of something like "Available at Circulation Desk" |
15:51 |
mmorgan |
But a status would mean that each time it circulates, it would need to have the status changed after checkin. |

I think I have complained about this before, is it worth entering a ticket for getting a success message on "Add To My List" ? I click it, and... nothing. I have to open the list to see if it worked. |
