09:40 mmorgan Thank you! My coffee is cold, so moving on to hot tea:)
09:42 sonOfRa Hello. I'm currently on the search for a library management system for our institute. The requirements are as follows: I need LDAP login (or at least, getting patron info from an LDAP server in some form), I would like (but not need) BibTeX exports for citations, and I need other users to be able to see *who has which book*
09:43 sonOfRa I don't need any fancy borrow-periods, late fees and the like. This is supposed to be mainly a trust-based system (there's no librarian, optimally just a library computer you can log into, check out books, log back out)
09:44 sonOfRa Another requirement: A *simple* dialog to add new entries. I took a look at koha, and it seems very geared towards "real" libraries, and the "add item" dialogue is a complete mystery to anyone who is not a professional librarian
09:44 Dyrcona sonOfRa: Evergreen can interface with LDAP, but does not have BitTeX, and other patrons cannot see what other patrons have out, unless you make everyone a staff user, which it sounds like you would want to do.
09:44 collum joined #evergreen
09:44 kmlussier sonOfRa: We do have support for LDAP. We don't export citations yet, but I believe there are some people who use Zotero for their citations.
09:45 Dyrcona sonOfRa: Evergreen uses MARC cataloging. You would need to add a simple dialog.
09:45 sonOfRa Yeah, the MARC cataloging is what kind of turned me off of koha :(
09:46 sonOfRa Hoping to find something that is a bit more agreeable to the poor sod who'll be cataloging the 4000 books that we currently (probably) have.
09:46 kmlussier sonOfRa: I know of some small libraries that use LibraryThing for their collections.
09:46 kmlussier https://www.librarything.com/organizations.php
09:47 sonOfRa Hm, that looks like it can't be self-hosted
09:47 kmlussier Oh, but I don't think you can do checkouts there. It would just be a way to make the books findable.
09:47 kmlussier sonOfRa: No, it can't.
09:47 sonOfRa Definitely needs to be self-hosted, as it contains possibly confidential research and unpublished dissertations
09:51 sonOfRa Thanks for the quick replies, much appreciated :)
09:51 sonOfRa The search continues!
09:51 Dyrcona sonOfRa: You're welcome.

10:16 pinesol_green csharp: [opensrf|dbs] Add a prerequisite installer for OpenSRF (carved out of the Evergreen installer) - <http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=OpenSRF.git;a=commit;h=e888a92>
10:42 dbs That sounds fairly ancient
10:43 jeff it's a common branching-off point for "what is the origin of this line in Makefile.install?" :-)
10:43 yboston Morning, to anynone using Stripe payments in EG, have you customized the relevant code to send the patron email address to Stripe, so stripe can send them a receipt email after payment? (I am on EG 2.9 so it might be addres in a later verision?)

10:55 kmlussier gmcharlt++ #Feedback fest!
10:59 dbs Alas I'm not going to be able to fulfill my allotment of feedback as I'll be at a conference next week
10:59 gmcharlt dbs: fair (and thanks for acknowledging the request!)
11:00 dbs And I can't balance all three of (the inevitable) fires back at work, and Evergreen feedback, and extracting max value out of my time away from home and $$$, so yeah, priorities. sorry.
11:00 * kmlussier may get a head start on hers.
11:01 * dbs is woefully behind on *this* week's fires at work. heh.
11:20 jonadab sonOfRa: I don't know if you will find _library_ software that doesn't use MARC for cataloging.  It's ridiculously ubiquitous, despite looking like line noise to regular people.  Perhaps you could press something into service that's not meant for libraries, like software meant for individual persons to track their personal collections of music or whatnot.
11:32 dbs sonOfRa: we have the RIS citation format available already; if there is a MARC2bibtext XSL we could add that pretty easily

14:43 rhamby bshum: we probably need more variety in terms of media - video game discs, laserdiscs, realia, web sites, etc...
14:43 rhamby well, need is probably too strong a word here....
14:44 bshum rhamby: Actually in a previous life with access to more records, I used to use Star Trek and other series for testing parts.  Cause kmlussier knows how much I *loved* testing parts...
14:45 bshum But yes, having more media would be good someday.
14:45 rhamby bshum: parts is a good thought, also records with previous/sequel entries (and other 77Xs)

15:05 bshum Yay!  berick++ gmcharlt++
15:06 wsmoak The Library Extension Chrome plugin is AWESOME.  Except for the "You have 3 holds ready to pick up!" part.  Now I need some way to queue up all these books and automatically request a hold only when I'm almost done with the _one_ I have checked out.
15:08 berick gmcharlt++ bshum++
15:27 Dyrcona wsmoak: That's a feature on a private wishlist that I've seen: a Netflix-like queue for requests.

15:41 kmlussier Oh, nice finding from Sitka for bug 1670242!
15:41 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1670242 in Evergreen "Web client: Cannot successfully check in hold transit items" [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1670242

15:52 abneiman kmlussier: berick: "Comment #4 will shock you!" (seriously though I'm going to look into that on our test system)
15:52 kmlussier berick: At the time I initially filed the report, I thought the bug was as alarming as the title would lead you to believe.
15:53 kmlussier I was ready to stop the 2.12 release for that one.
15:53 berick kmlussier: oh, i was commenting on your "nice finding" comment, not the bug title.
15:53 berick i could not resist looking at the bug to see the comment
15:54 berick abneiman: exactly :)
15:54 kmlussier Oh, see, I was thinking it was one of those misleading headlines to draw you in, only to find out there's nothing there.
