09:25 kmlussier Hmmmm. More Jetpack issues. Looks like it didn't push the 2.12 announcement to Facebook last night.

09:50 Dyrcona Where do folks usually get their us zip code file? I googled for zip code downloads and get all kinds of sites with different formats and information.
09:54 * Dyrcona just borrowed the one he has hanging around from MVLC.
09:55 tsbere I forget how I built MVLC's
09:56 tsbere I know there is a "violates the google maps TOS" script out there somewhere to pull them down, though. ;)
09:58 csharp we've been using the same file since at least 2008 - I keep waiting for complaints but they never come :-)
09:58 tsbere I recently got a complaint about MVLC's, actually. They said the wrong town name was coming up for a specific ZIP.
09:59 Dyrcona Thanks, tsbere and csharp.
09:59 tsbere I sent them a map with the zip code in question highlighted and the town line that passes through said zip code marked in response.
09:59 Dyrcona Well, the way zips work in MA, I'm not too surprised.
10:00 * mmorgan does not remember where our original file came from, either, but is reminded that the state of Maine was missing.
10:00 berick i assume most were built by hand or some ad-hoc script
10:00 Dyrcona There are lots of sites willing to sell you a database, with subscriptions, even! ;)
10:00 tsbere I considered re-building ours from a database table I have kicking around, but never got around to doing so. Or at least comparing said output...
10:01 berick when the tuits flow like rain, i'd like to move the zip file into the DB
10:01 * tsbere made the database table in question from data provided via http://federalgovernmentzipcodes.us/ as he wanted to be able to see secondary "acceptable" names for zips for a report
10:03 tsbere I only know that is where I got the data because I made the effort to put a comment to that effect on the table
10:04 csharp berick++
10:04 Dyrcona berick: When the tuits flow like rain, send me some... :)

10:05 csharp @sing The Eurythmics: Here Come the Tuits Again
10:05 pinesol_green csharp: http://cat.evergreen-ils.org.meowbify.com/
10:05 berick heh
10:05 berick I wanna know, have you ever.. seen... the tuits
10:05 * csharp was going to go with "Blame it on the Tuits"
10:05 Dyrcona Ok. I'm going to add this file to my custom config git with a modification to install it, then reset some offline circ transactions in the database.
10:05 Dyrcona :)
10:06 Dyrcona Ok. I have to play my Eurythmics collection. It's one of those Best of... compilations.
10:09 Dyrcona Guess I'll throw it in extras with ils_events.xml
10:10 Dyrcona I guess examples would work, too.... Whatevs...extras it is.
10:11 Dyrcona Pretty easy to install it, too. Just add it to core_data in Open-ILS/src/Makefile.am for those following along at home.

11:04 kmlussier miker: Now that we are promoting web client production use, do you think it would make sense to treat web client bugs as we treat other bugs?
11:04 kmlussier I'm thinking they could be directly merged rather than pulled into the webstaff branch, especially ones that might be treated as bug fixes.
11:06 miker kmlussier: for nominally completed interfaces, yep.
11:07 kmlussier So that would be everything except serials and offline circ, right?
11:09 berick +1 to flowing fixes directly into master/release branches
11:10 * berick has worked on a fix or two to find they were later fixed in other branches
11:11 miker we should resync the branches first. let's shoot for early next week?
11:16 kmlussier I'm not even sure where the current webstaff branch is. The last one I see in the working repo is something that's already been merged.

11:33 miker kmlussier: yeah, the one on webby is authoritative for (our) new dev. it's a bit ahead and out of sync with the working branch ... not sure how, but we'll get a new one up soon for merging and new dev
11:33 kmlussier miker: Thanks!

11:55 Dyrcona NawJo: Have you worked out the  web staff client issues?
11:56 NawJo Hello, I cannot log in to web client yet :(
11:56 NawJo this is my url : https://63.142.251.63/eg/staff/
11:58 Dyrcona Did you try the things that I mentioned in email?
11:58 NawJo Yes, I think websockets aren't running
11:58 Dyrcona What happens if you do "sudo apache2ctl-websockets start" on the server?
11:59 NawJo I got * Command not found *
12:00 NawJo I'm not familiar with websockets, I don't know how to set them up
12:01 Dyrcona OK. You have to install it.
12:02 NawJo I will try again
12:03 Dyrcona I was going to link to the instructions. Do you know what version of OpenSRF you installed?
12:04 Dyrcona The latest instructions are here: http://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/install/OpenSRF/README_2_5_0.html
12:04 Dyrcona The websocket part is here: http://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/install/OpenSRF/README_2_5_0.html#_optional_websockets_installation_instructions
12:08 NawJo yes I installed the latest version today.
12:09 NawJo I will do it now, and let you know :) thanks :)
12:09 Dyrcona yw
12:13 Dyrcona I don't do the websockets steps exactly as written. I usually clone it as the opensrf user to the opensrf user's home directory.
12:14 Dyrcona Doesn't make a difference, really.
12:19 NawJo I'm trying to install it, hmm
12:27 NawJo after running: sudo apache2ctl-websockets start, I got *httpd (pid xxx) already running*, but it failed  when I issued (/etc/init.d/apache2-websockets start)
12:30 jihpringle joined #evergreen
12:35 Dyrcona NawJo: Did you copy the websockets config as mentioned in step 5 of the websockets instructions I linked above?
12:37 NawJo Yes, I followed all the steps
12:37 Dyrcona Ok. I've never had that happen.
12:40 NawJo hmm, I'll try again
12:43 NawJo I rebooted the server, and now it's working
12:43 NawJo I got [[ ok ] Starting apache2-websockets (via systemctl): apache2-websockets.service.]
12:58 khuckins_ joined #evergreen
13:13 Dyrcona I didn't think that happened automatically like that.
13:13 Dyrcona The systemctl part.
13:18 NawJo I tried to log in now, in the console I got this message [WebSocket connection to 'wss://63.142.251.63/osrf-websocket-translator' failed: Error during WebSocket handshake: Unexpected response code: 404]
13:19 NawJo it shows that there are errors in /js/dojo/opensrf/opensrf_ws.js
13:20 Dyrcona NawJo: You installed the dojo, per the Evergreen instructions?
13:21 berick if this is firefox, could be the classic self-signed ssl issue
13:22 mmorgan joined #evergreen
13:23 NawJo No, I did not, because it was mentioned *Skip this section if you are using an official release*, I will install it now
13:25 Dyrcona NawJo: You installed from a tarball, then you don't need it.
13:25 NawJo Yes
13:25 Dyrcona Try connecting to port 7682 as Eva suggested and as berick is hinting at above.
13:26 Dyrcona The tarball includes dojo.
13:27 NawJo Success!
13:28 Dyrcona Yay! NawJo++
13:29 NawJo I  followed Eva's suggestion again, I connected through https://ip/eg/staff:7682

13:33 Dyrcona You can login now?
13:36 NawJo Yes, yes :)
13:37 NawJo I wrote the rtl stylesheets for web client days ago, and now I want to test them :)
13:38 Dyrcona OK. Have fun and thanks for the stylesheets.

14:27 bshum Are we allowed to request proxy votes?  Or is it voting in the room only?  :)
14:28 gmcharlt bshum: yeah, from the original call, core committers who cannot make the meeting may submit their vote via email to open-ils-dev
14:33 bshum gmcharlt: Ah okay, I missed that part of the email I guess.
14:33 bshum Thanks for confirming :)

15:53 rhamby looking at photos for annual report: lots of red shirts, me thinks that's not a good thing
15:56 Dyrcona Just don't go on the away team.
16:14 berick looking at the opensrf time zone stuff (wrapping up 1635737) -- should I expect this to return a date in America/Los_Angeles instead of my local time?
16:14 berick echo 'request open-ils.cstore open-ils.cstore.json_query {"from":["now"]}' | TZ="America/Los_Angeles" srfsh
16:15 berick perhaps I'm using it wrong?
16:15 berick or my assumptions are wrong
16:15 Dyrcona Well, your pipe is in the wrong place.
16:16 Dyrcona Oh, maybe not.... I think the TZ=... Needs to go in front of the eco.
16:16 Dyrcona echo...echo.. echo... My brain can spell, it's just my fingers that can't.
16:17 berick just tried for grins, no dice.  I also tried exporting TZ before the srfsh line
16:17 * berick confirms it's in the osrf message w/ the original command
16:18 gmcharlt berick: yep, the TZ should be passsed in
16:18 gmcharlt and I've verified in the srfsh log on my test system that the tz is being passed in the request
16:18 gmcharlt now checking the cstore side of things
16:18 berick gmcharlt++
16:19 Dyrcona OK. I've never mangled the env with pipes much.
16:19 Dyrcona It looks...well, weird and wrong.
16:20 Dyrcona But if it works, it works.
16:25 pastebot "gmcharlt" at 64.57.241.14 pasted "berick: it currently adheres to open-ils.*.transaction.begin" (65 lines) at http://paste.evergreen-ils.org/76
16:26 berick ah, so maybe my assumptions are wrong.  it requires a transaction..
16:27 gmcharlt or a fieldmapper search
16:27 gmcharlt I think json_query not doing it is just an oversight
16:27 * berick nods

16:40 Dyrcona I tested with circulation, so transactions.
16:40 Dyrcona I don't think I thought to test it without a transaction.
16:41 Dyrcona "I don't think I thought..." heh....
16:41 gmcharlt friends don't let friends do circulation transactions outside of transactions
16:41 Dyrcona :)
16:42 Dyrcona Friends don't let friends think and drive. Wait! What?
16:51 bshum For those of us playing with conference prep, this might be interesting to you:  https://asciinema.org/  (for recording terminal sessions)
16:52 gmcharlt bshum++
16:52 bshum I started messing with it to document out some installation procedures, but it could be fun for all sorts of things!
16:52 bshum (though I am wary of uploading it to their public site if it contains anything important)
16:52 berick neat
16:53 bshum I practiced by doing some git pulls on my branches
16:53 bshum and promptly typoed a bunch of stuff
16:53 bshum Leading to a bad video
16:53 bshum But, hey, fun!

21:41 bshum Oh special.
21:41 bshum https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ejabberd/+bug/1659801
21:41 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1659801 in ejabberd (Ubuntu) "apparmor rules block ejabberdctl" [Undecided,New]
21:41 bshum Just came across this segmentation error on Ubuntu 16.04 dry run while trying to run through ejabberd user registration :\
21:41 bshum Ruined my asciinema recording, bah
21:42 bshum Guess I'll have to try it all over again
21:43 * bshum blows away his VM to test anew
21:49 * bshum considers making the recording on Trusty instead
21:50 bshum Or Debian... *shudders*
23:05 Dyrcona I have not encountered that one, but I always start ejabberdctl with sudo.
23:06 bshum I ran it as root
23:06 bshum And got that error
23:06 Dyrcona I never run anything as root.
23:06 Dyrcona I always sudo.
23:06 * bshum whistles innocently
23:07 Dyrcona Just habit, now. Nothing particularly bad about becoming root for a limited time.
23:08 Dyrcona I'm gonna hit the sack. Catch ya tomorrow!
23:08 bshum Night!
