10:49 Bmagic so with 2.11 do we need to create a new cron for badge_score_generator.pl ?
10:52 Bmagic Also, oils_web.xml - what is that for?
10:57 dbs http://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/install/README_2_1_1.html says "Many administration interfaces, such as acquisitions, bookings, and various configuration screens, depend on the correct configuration of HTML templates."
10:58 dbs But it might have been removed ages ago
10:58 dbs It's not in our 2.10 system for example
10:59 dbs 4fc8fa24f1
10:59 pinesol_green dbs: [evergreen|Dan Scott] Move templates out of a web-served directory - <http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commit;h=4fc8fa2>
10:59 dbs 93182fe142
10:59 pinesol_green dbs: [evergreen|Bill Erickson] Removed sample oils_web.xml; removed from README - <http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=commit;h=93182fe>
11:15 Bmagic I have oils_web.xml in my openils/conf directory
11:16 Bmagic So I guess it's not used anymore and we have just been carrying it forward
11:16 bshum That happens all the time.
11:16 Bmagic well, the buck stops here
11:17 Bmagic and the file is not making it's way to the next version... making the world a beter place, one xml file at a time
11:19 bshum Bmagic: For me, I found it entertaining to parse which files we could safely get rid of from jspac.  I don't think I ever finished that project actually... hmm.
11:19 bshum Oh well.
11:19 bshum :D
11:20 Bmagic In Evergreen, are we supposed to be able to search for "hart, j" and get author results for hart, john?
11:35 bshum Bmagic: Maybe if it was "Hart, J*" ?
11:36 bshum To hit all the words that start with J
11:36 bshum Including John
11:37 * bshum doesn't know enough about that stemming stuff that everybody always talks about
11:37 bshum But I don't think J would be enough
12:01 csharp @blame J
12:01 pinesol_green csharp: J WILL PERISH UNDER MAXIMUM DELETION! DELETE. DELETE. DELETE!
12:19 bshum "But in the Latin alphabet, Jehovah beings with an I..."
12:51 jeff title holds on deleted temporary ncip bibs... metarecord hold on a metarecord that doesn't exist... "Processing of hold failed" is right.

13:21 hbrennan We're upgrading from EVG 2.9.0 to 2.11.0 today, and swore we needed to upgrade PostgreSQL... but notes don't indicate that. Can we stay on 9.1?
13:27 dbs hbrennan: http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/dev/_evergreen_2_10_0_upgrade_notes.html says "In the next major release following 2.10.0, Evergreen will no longer officially support PostgreSQL 9.1."
13:28 dbs I guess we should have added that to the upgrade notes for 2.11!
13:28 hbrennan Yeah, a little confusing because the release notes say min supported is 9.1
13:28 dbs (aside, Evergreen master docs only show the 2.10 release notes, not the 2.11 ones.. hrm)
13:28 hbrennan https://evergreen-ils.org/documentation/install/README_2_11.html
13:29 hbrennan sorry, install instructions
13:29 hbrennan not release notes
13:29 dbs yikes, those same install instructions mention Fedora 19 and 20 which are long dead themselves
13:30 hbrennan hmm, so no good
13:31 dbs http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.11/_installing_prerequisites.html mentions a minimum of 9.1 as well. maybe it got a reprieve.
13:31 bshum Well
13:31 bshum That's cause I never finished my branch to make all those references say PG 9.3
13:31 bshum And also cause we didn't figure out what to do about Wheezy
13:32 bshum Presumably 9.1 will still operate, based on what I know so far.  I don't think we're using anything that explicitedly requires 9.3 or better
13:32 bshum But I still recommend using 9.3 anyways
13:32 hbrennan I'm going to sound real smart now because Nick's taking over my keyboard
13:32 bshum If for no other reason cause PG 9.1 support ended back in September 2016
13:32 bshum So PostgreSQL community no longer supports it
13:33 hbrennan trying to decide if pulling in the postgres ppa for 9.3 or staying with the 9.1.20 that is with ubuntu 12.04.05 is the better plan for the next 6 months
13:33 bshum Technically, Ubuntu 12.04 is also unsupported too :)
13:34 bshum Evergreen 2.11 removes Ubuntu 12.04 as a make target.
13:34 bshum Although OpenSRF 2.4 doesn't support 16.04 and still has 12.04 as a make target.
13:34 bshum So really Evergreen 2.11 should have shipped with min OpenSRF 2.5 to match that up
13:34 hbrennan missed that one completely
13:34 bshum But let's say that's a... quibble
13:36 * bshum is only saying things that occur in his head aloud right now, but may or may not be representative of the actual intents by the developers at large
13:36 bshum But yeah, Ubuntu 14.04 is the min Ubuntu version supported on 2.11.0
13:37 hbrennan so maybe just going up to 2.10.7 is the "better" choice
13:37 hbrennan for the the conservative definition of better
13:37 bshum Maybe, if you're not quite ready to upgrade the rest of your infrastructures.  Though hey Ubuntu 12.04 support ends too in April 2017 I think.
13:37 bshum So you don't have much time to get off it either.
13:38 bshum 14.04 is conservatively best choice, just cause I don't think anyone is using 16.04 in production.  But I am out of touch lately.
13:39 hbrennan yeah systemd in 16.04 is my hold up on production there
13:39 bshum Fair enough, I only helped to test the installation procedures for 16.04; I haven't used it :)
13:40 bshum at least not outside playtesting and developments
13:41 hbrennan okay holly is sounding fine with feature upgrades in 2.10 train so that's the plan 2.10.7 and hit another maintinace window in Jan/Feb
13:41 bshum For the conservatives, let's say Debian is your best bet.  If you're a little more edgy, go with Ubuntu.  And if you're crazy like dbs or csharp, there's always Fedora.
13:41 hbrennan fedora isn't around long enough for production
13:42 bshum Certainly not.  But like I said, "crazy"
13:42 bshum :D
13:42 hbrennan and centos/rhel is mess
13:42 hbrennan y too
13:42 hbrennan unless you pay for rhel and even then.....
13:43 bshum Let those KCLS guys tell you about RHEL and Evergreen.  Right berick?  :)
13:43 bshum (no, don't let them, you want to sleep at night)
13:43 dbs hey hey, I only run Fedora on my laptop, we're ubuntu 14.04 in production
13:43 hbrennan okay thanks, I should have tracked this better
13:43 bshum dbs++ # only half crazy :)
13:43 dbs it's, uh, hard to track
13:44 bshum Agreed, it's not well explained.
13:44 hbrennan I'll turn the keyboard back over to holly and pull down 2.10.7 and openSRF 2.4.1
13:44 bshum ooooh, pretty, just installed and playing with pgAdmin 4 v 1.1!
13:46 bshum Oh, right, today is a holiday for some people.  No wonder it's quiet up in here...
13:51 hbrennan Yep, some of us have to keep the world running
13:51 hbrennan :P
13:52 bshum We're finishing packing our old office today cause it's our last day before moving to a new building.  I will miss my single office... going to be in a cubicle on open floor soon :\
13:53 * bshum goes back to playing with bubble wrap
13:54 hbrennan Good luck with that!
14:23 Bmagic hbrennan: we are upgrading to 2.11 tomorrow as well. We are moving to PG9.5/ubuntu 16.04 for what it's worth
14:24 hbrennan Bmagic: We're feeling less than spunky today so we've decided to just go for 2.10.7
14:24 Bmagic that sounds good
14:25 hbrennan We wanted someone else to jump first
14:25 Bmagic usually I spend a few weeks going over everything before upgrading :)
14:26 hbrennan You are the perfect candidate
14:26 hbrennan Look forward to following you in the next few months
14:26 Bmagic lol, I'll let you know Monday. Between disgruntled library calls....
14:26 hbrennan hehe
14:27 Bmagic Along these same lines, we are excited that we are moving the services to the cloud tomorro!
14:27 hbrennan ooooOOOOOhhhh
14:28 hbrennan the clooooud\
14:28 Bmagic docker containers
14:38 dbs docker, huh
14:41 dbs doc the docker, I know others will be interested
15:01 csharp bshum: have you set up pgadmin4 to use the web interface? that's the most exciting feature I've heard about (but not yet used)
15:02 csharp hbrennan: if you're using ubuntu LTS, it's not much different than using Debian - and it has the advantage of being on a set support cycle whereas Debian's model is "release when ready"
15:02 csharp (though the release cycles are super slow, more like CentOS/RHEL
15:02 csharp )
15:03 hbrennan csharp: Thanks!
15:53 jeff 1067 holds with multiple entries in action.hold_transit_copy for a total of 2181 rows.
15:53 jeff (excluding self-transits)
15:54 jeff some of these are likely "uncancelled" holds.
15:56 jeff but some are cases where an item transited to fill a hold, but didn't make it to the holdshelf, and was placed back in a transit bin. by the time the patron comes in to pick up the item, it's gone already... sometimes still showing as "on hold shelf", sometimes showing as "in transit" again.
15:56 jeff (being "in transit" again if it made it to wherever it was sent, and was scanned there)

16:55 Bmagic so, do we have ruby edi working on 16.04?
16:57 csharp Bmagic: I've not attempted it yet - I would probably start with the script I altered for trusty
16:58 Bmagic http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=blob;f=Open-ILS/src/edi_translator/install-ubuntu-xenial.sh;h=6223070d3cbb0919918c3ff2ef3c8dc82d68735e;hb=HEAD
16:58 Bmagic is what I am working from
16:58 csharp ah cool
16:59 Bmagic but sudo cp lib/openils/mapper.rb /var/lib/gems/1.9.1/gems/openils-mapper-0.9.9/lib/openils/mapper.rb doesnt work because it looks like it should be /var/lib/gems/2.3.0/gems/openils-mapper-0.9.9/lib/edi/mapper.rb
16:59 csharp ah
17:00 csharp yeah - it was kindof a brittle one-off that I didn't think much about forward porting
17:00 csharp probably worth grabbing a ruby version string somehow so that won't break
17:01 pinesol_green News from qatests: Test Failure <http://testing.evergreen-ils.org/~live>
17:01 csharp pinesol_green: no, you're the failure
17:01 pinesol_green csharp: have you tried local mean solar time for the named city as the reference point?
17:01 pinesol_green csharp: I am only a bot, please don't think I'm intelligent :)
