I had a dream about the conference last night. It was strange, my brain filled in details about what the conference hotel looks like, and I don't remember any of the sessions. Since I'm not attending this year my mind is trying to compensate. |
09:36 |

09:36 |
kmlussier |
Stompro: You're not going? Sorry to hear it. :( |

09:37 |

Sounds like a good conference! |
09:37 |

Also, the live tests have been broken for awhile - http://testing.evergreen-ils.org/~live/test.html -- one of the perl live tests dies cause opt-in isn't enabled in opensrf.xml (sounds like a new test) |
09:37 |
Stompro |
Two of my coworkers are going this year, say hello to Sharon and Pauline if you see them. |
09:38 |
bshum |
I wonder too if maybe the reason the RSS feed doesn't announce for the live test anymore is cause the new RSS module for pinesol is trying to look for some timestamp for the polling and it's not part of our RSS feed off live test. |

berick, do you remember why marc_stream_importer.pl outputs a null byte after processing a file (at the end of standalone_process_request)? I'd normally bug it and send a patch removing it, but since it was done explicitly I assume there was a need (at some time?). |

JBoyer: IIRC, OCLC Connexion requires the null byte to indicate that the full response message has been delivered. |
11:14 |
berick |
may need to make it a command line option |
11:16 |
JBoyer |
I don't know if it needs to be an option necessarily. Does Connexion use spool files at all, or is it network only? Not outputting the byte for local files would likely make everything happy. |
11:16 |
berick |
it's network only |
11:17 |
JBoyer |
(i.e. turn --spool-file into the "print null?" flag instead of adding another one) |

14:04 |

2.10 needs to be discussed. we are way behind |
14:04 |
yboston |
maybe we can catch up at the conference hackfest |
14:05 |

dang it, the DIG hackfest is not listed. I never noticed |
14:07 |

we will miss out on folks |
14:08 |
yboston |
#action yboston will email conferece committee to ask them to 1) update the online schedule 2) ask them to send out a mass email to alert folks of the DIG hackfest |
14:09 |

14:09 |

14:10 |
remingtron |
I plan on attending the dev hackfest anyway, but I can be available for DIG questions |
14:10 |
yboston |
is there amyone on the IRC channel right now that is part of the conference committee? |
14:10 |
yboston |
oh well, I will email them after this meeting |
14:10 |
remingtron |
sounds good |
14:10 |
jihpringle |
everything ends at 4pm on Wednesday, maybe we could something informal that evening? |
14:11 |
remingtron |
jihpringle: good idea |
14:11 |
yboston |
sandbergja: are you attending the conferece ? what about the hackfest day? |
14:11 |
sandbergja |
I'll be at the conference, not the hackfest day |
14:12 |
yboston |
wow, I did not see this coming |
14:12 |
yboston |
I still hope we have a room available |
14:13 |
yboston |
and yes, lets find a time to meet that day, either at lunch or after 4 PM, or maybe both? |
14:14 |
yboston |
can someone create two doodle polls for what ever lunch time is and for like 4 PM? I would liek to meet at both times anyway to catch everyone at some point? |
14:14 |
yboston |
alternative ideas? |
14:15 |
remingtron |
yboston: both good ideas |
14:16 |
yboston |
I will spread the word that I can do lunch with whoever wants to talk about docuemtnation. |
14:16 |
yboston |
we can then shoot for a more formal meetign sometime after 4 PM |
14:16 |
remingtron |
yboston++ |
14:17 |
remingtron |
I'll try to be at both |
14:17 |
jihpringle |
yboston: we can use this to gauge interest for lunch |

jihpringle |
http://doodle.com/poll/kapzrvtmt3c3c6un |
14:18 |

thanks |
14:18 |

sould we make one for like 4 or 4:30 that day? |
14:18 |
jihpringle |
http://doodle.com/poll/9yv3p9qvhqn7pyss |
14:18 |
yboston |
:) |
14:19 |
|
kmlussier joined #evergreen |
14:19 |
jihpringle |
we can send both out to the lists and ask people who are attending the conference and interest to indicate if they want to meet for lunch and if they want to meet Wednesday evening what start time works best for them |
14:20 |
yboston |
exactly |
14:20 |
yboston |
can you email the list for me or someone else? |
14:20 |
jihpringle |
yboston: I'll leave that email to you to draft and send? |
14:20 |
sandbergja |
that sounds great! |
14:20 |
jihpringle |
or I can email the lists :) |
14:20 |
yboston |
I gotta rack down the conf group to see if we still have a room, we could also just crash the hack fest |
14:20 |
yboston |
meaning the dev hackfest |
14:22 |
yboston |
jihpringle: you have no idea how much I value all your help |
14:22 |
yboston |
#action jihpringle will share on DIG list the doodle polls to meet at lunch and after 4 PM on the hackfest day |
14:22 |
sandbergja |
jihpringle++ |
14:22 |
jihpringle |
happy to help, sending emails and creating doodle polls lets me feel like I'm still helping when I don't have time to actually write docs |
14:22 |
yboston |
:) |
14:23 |
yboston |
so lets talk about 2.10 docs |
14:23 |
yboston |
we can try to see how much we can do at the conference =, then schedule another DIG remote hackfest after the conference |
14:24 |
yboston |
any other ideas or commets? |
14:24 |
yboston |
on that topic? |
14:24 |
jihpringle |
we're upgrading to 2.10 the May long weekend (May 23rd) so all the Sitka docs will be updated to 2.10 by then |
14:25 |
yboston |
wow |
14:25 |
jihpringle |
we still use docbook but I'm going to try to write some of the docs in in ascii at the same time and send them to the list |
14:25 |
remingtron |
jihpringle: that will be a big help |
14:25 |
yboston |
should we cordinate to se what features to skip on our end? |
14:26 |
remingtron |
jihpringle: and I just found a way to convert HTML pages to AsciiDoc (at least mostly), which could be used to convert your web docs |
14:26 |
jihpringle |
that would make life easier :) |
14:26 |
jihpringle |
it would be good to talk about at the conference |
14:26 |
yboston |
cool |
14:27 |
jihpringle |
I think by then I'll have a better idea of which docs we're updating versus writing from scratch for new features |
14:27 |

jeffdavis: Fwiw, the 2.7 RM used PG 9.3 as his baseline when getting that release prepared. |

that probably answers that then :) |

jeffdavis |
thanks bshum |

does anyone know if there's an API that patrons can use to automate things like a search or placing a hold (which would need authentication) ? |
15:56 |
wsmoak |
I keep forgetting to ask during work hours. :) My local library is part of GA Pines. |

wsmoak: short answer Yes, long answer But.. it takes some digging to figure out |
15:57 |
wsmoak |
no problem. :) can you point in the general direction? |
16:00 |
wsmoak |
from the page source, I can see a search hits `/eg/opac/results` and the various options you can feed it. |
16:00 |
wsmoak |
I'll look for that in the source code and see if anything becomes apparent. |

wsmoak: the catalog is a good start. the Perl code that builds those pages lives in Open-ILS/src/perlmods/lib/OpenILS/WWW/EGCatLoader |
16:01 |
berick |
it has lots of examples of using the API |
16:01 |
wsmoak |
great, thanks! |

wsmoak: some simpler Perl code can be found here http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=tree;f=Open-ILS/src/perlmods/live_t;hb=HEAD |

but we're pretty much stock - not much customization aside from the OPAC/KPAC skins |
16:05 |
wsmoak |
hello again csharp :) |

I'm having an issue with the booking module randomly returning equipment aparently without human interation. Is anyone familiar enough with the code to help me trace what's happening? |
16:20 |

kimo_sabe: Not sure I can help, but to clarify, are these cataloged items? Or just bookable resources? |
16:32 |
kimo_sabe |
mmorgan: just bookable |
16:40 |
mmorgan |
Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the code, so I don't think I can help. :-( |
