berick: pushed some new commits to https://github.com/tadl/marc-indexing-for-es |
13:12 |
jeff |
even considering the indexing speed improvements, i was seeing the index's docs.count value increase faster than expected -- but since i've switched to nested holdings, each copy is a document also (internally) |
13:14 |
berick |
jeff: cool, thanks for the heads up |
13:15 |
jeff |
using "nested" was necessary to be able to filter on things like "has an available copy at library X" (and not have it just be "have an available copy" and "have a copy at library X") |
13:16 |
berick |
right, makes sense |
13:17 |
jeff |
internally it's similar in some ways to having parent/child documents, but 1) you're only inserting one document, and 2) it's faster due to them being indexed in the same block. |
13:18 |
jeff |
the implicit flattening caught me by surprise, actually. More info here: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/1.7/mapping-nested-type.html |
13:19 |
berick |
faster for reads, as I understand it, but not for writes. |
13:19 |
berick |
oh yeah, the flattening... |

like this record with an entry in asset.opac_visible_copies that references a copy with id that isn't attached to any of the volumes that are on that bib. |

so far, nested objects seem to take up a bit more storage space as well. not enough to concern me. might also go back down during the normal course of compression. |

Hello, I was curious if anyone in here knows whether or not an IF statement would work in the receipt template and if so then how would you type it? (ive tried basic html/java and it didnt like either, not sure if im typing it wrong or not) |
