09:51 kmlussier csharp: Do you think the authority bug you just reported is the same as bug 1358392?
09:51 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1358392 in Evergreen "See references not always displaying on browse search" (affected: 3, heat: 24) [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1358392

10:39 jboyer-isl "You can infer the xml representation of a javascript widget..." That's one way to change everyone's opinion of Evergreen's report generator, overnight. ;)
10:41 rfrasur Everybody be hatin' on the reports.  Not me.  Not me.
10:41 rfrasur People don't hate ugly puppies.
10:43 kmlussier csharp's bug report has given me incentive to bury my head in authority cross-references today.
10:43 jwoodard Did I hear reports and hate in the same sentence?
10:43 rfrasur jwoodard, yes...but there were other words in the sentence as well. :D
10:44 kmlussier I'll take reports over authorities any day.
10:44 rfrasur kmlussier++
10:44 jwoodard So our city had a workshop here at the library and changed the settings on our mobile tv/laptop and now I cannot change them back...
10:44 rfrasur Is your library a city entity?
10:45 jwoodard We are.
10:45 rfrasur Ugh.
10:46 * rfrasur was going to suggest raising hell...but...not if you have to play nice.
10:46 kmlussier @who cries whenever they look at authority records?
10:46 pinesol_green jeff cries whenever they look at authority records.
10:46 rfrasur lol
10:47 jwoodard I am not sure how they even changed them. I'm just going to hit some buttons and pray for a miracle from SHODAN.
10:47 rfrasur I dunno what SHODAN is.  Please inform.
10:48 jboyer-isl Unless I'm misremembering the game jwoodard is referencing, SHODAN isn't likely to help you out. I'm probably off base about who's who there.
10:49 rfrasur Oh...I see.  N/m.  Creepy and awesome.
10:50 jwoodard Never played System Shock? Great first person shooter from the mid 90's.
10:51 rfrasur My house was a nursery at that point.  Didn't play much.  Tried to play Quake.  Found I didn't care enough to really get into it.
10:52 rfrasur Quake III, to be exact.
10:53 jboyer-isl rfrasur: CTF is where that (was) at. The hacked ctf version of q3dm17, specifically.
10:54 rfrasur jboyer-isl, all I did was work on skins and jump around on a few maps...and then die.  I was particularly good at dying.
10:54 jboyer-isl Me too, given the antique machine I took to college.
10:55 rfrasur Compaq 700 or something like that...it became Compaqenstein eventually.  I think he's still in the attic.

11:32 kmlussier_ RoganH: Everything.
11:32 kmlussier_ ?
11:32 berick RoganH: curious if there's a front-runner in the hackaway dates?
11:34 RoganH berick: right now Oct 28th - 30th seems to be the front runner
11:35 berick RoganH: cool, thanks.  just curious
12:06 Stompro graced, I'm making progress starting an Evergreen Community Group here, of 2-4 staff members that can spend a few hours a week on EG community work, plus bug/documentation days, your talk at the conference was inspiring.

12:13 Stompro graced, Will do, so far managment has been very supportive of the idea.  Now I need to figure out if I should have an application process, or just let in anyone that wants to join.  I'm not sure how big of a response I'm going to get.
12:14 graced I think you should take all comers, personally, as there will be inevitable attrition

12:19 Stompro That would probably work if 5 people signed up, but if I get 10 I'm not sure if we can handle that, but I'll worry about that if it happens.

13:46 jwoodard Is it possible to see all accounts under a certain permission group in Evergreen? I know I can do it in reports but I do not want to create one. :P
13:49 kmlussier jwoodard: You would either have to do it through reports or through a SQL query. I can't think of another way.
13:49 jwoodard I knew it...Though I would ask though. Thanks!
13:51 phasefx jwoodard: if you have a small set of users, the Patron Search interface could do it
13:51 phasefx otherwise, it'll cap out
13:51 mmorgan jwoodard: I just tried this and it worked - In the Patron Search screen of the staff client, you can Filter by Permission Profile ...
13:51 kmlussier Ah, see, phasefx and mmorgan are thinking more clearly than I am!
13:51 mmorgan What phasefx said :)
13:51 kmlussier phasefx++ mmorgan++
13:51 phasefx but historically, devs haven't liked ui's like that being used for "reporting" :)
13:52 mmorgan you don't need to enter any other search terms.
13:52 kmlussier By default, it caps out at around 50, right? But it can be increased with an OU setting, though, at some point, I'm thinking it could time out if the result set were large enough.
13:53 bshum I thought it stopped at 25
13:53 bshum But yeah, something.
13:53 phasefx it's more tolerant than some interfaces with large quantities, because it's just retrieving id's on the initial query, and then fleshing out the data for those actually on-screen
13:54 phasefx though if you go to sort a column, then it'll have to flesh everything in one go first
13:54 bshum Just go with letters, "A" last names, "B" last names, etc.

13:54 jwoodard I am trying to search staff accounts with a specific permission level and was feeling a bit lazy. Happy to know there is and easy way.
13:54 jwoodard phasefx++ mmorgan++
13:54 phasefx should work well with staff
13:55 kmlussier I got 51 on a stock system. I've always wondered why it stops at 51 and not 50.
13:56 bshum berick: I wonder what'd happen if someone was silly and input a timeout of 20 seconds or less via the library settings.
13:56 bshum for https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1476370
13:56 pinesol_green Launchpad bug 1476370 in Evergreen "Selfcheck warn on patron auto-logout, reset activity timer on checkout" (affected: 3, heat: 14) [Undecided,New]
13:56 jwoodard found what I was looking for! Thanks!
13:57 phasefx kmlussier: for some reason, the code has obj.result_cap + 1
13:58 kmlussier I fight authorities, authorities always win.

14:02 berick bshum: i'm pretty sure the dialog would pop up immediately
14:03 bshum berick: That's what i figured would happen.  I imagine it's not going to be a normal problem, but hey you never know what crazy weird stuff users try out.
14:03 * berick confirmed a negative timeout is the same as timeout 0.
14:04 berick bshum: since I can't think of a valid reason to have an inactivity timeout of <= 20 seconds, i'm not that concerned
14:05 bshum berick: Good enough for me :)
14:05 bshum I couldn't think of one either, just something that occurred to me as a "what if?" kind of thought.

14:06 jboyer-isl "You break it, you broke it" is a fine way to view seemingly intentional settings damage,
14:07 jboyer-isl (so long as ignoring them doesn't somehow create security issues, etc.)
14:10 berick in this case it would be an annoying dialog that would prevent you from using the page, since it would keep popping up.  fortunately, not the kind that freezes the browser.
14:10 berick not being able to use it at all is a security enhancment in my book ;)

15:50 mrpeters can you all remind me the proper URL for the preview browser client?
15:51 mrpeters i thought it was /eg/client but apparently not
15:51 jeff /eg/staff/home
15:52 mrpeters ahhh thank you jeff
15:52 mrpeters awesome!
15:52 mrpeters jlamos and i have been working on deb-ifying websockets
15:52 mrpeters and it works :)
15:54 mrpeters so, perhaps for opensrf 2.4.2 we could distribute the deb instead of doing the git clone, and avoid having users install git-core and simplify the process a bit
15:54 mrpeters you'd just apply the evergreen configs, similar to how you already do for apache2

16:40 mmorgan Anybody had a problem where the Submit button on the Place Hold screen just refreshes the screen and the hold never gets placed?
16:42 bshum mmorgan: That sounds odd...
16:42 bshum Bad selection?
16:42 bshum I mean, pickup library
16:42 bshum Like it's set to CONS but you can't actually pick up there
16:43 mmorgan No, it's a valid pickup location. This is a training server and I can't place any holds.
16:44 bshum Then, no, I have not seen anything like that before.
16:44 bshum Do your logs tell you anything?
16:44 mmorgan Others are running 2.8.2 and can place holds, right? :)
16:44 bshum Is the attempt even tried?
16:45 mmorgan The attempt isn't even tried. Doesn't make it to the logs.
16:45 bshum Maybe it's a template problem of some sort.
16:45 mmorgan We thought so, so went back to stock templates and we're still having the problem.
16:46 bshum Does anything show up in the console of the browser you're testing on?
16:46 bshum And yes, fwiw, we're on 2.8-ish and able to place holds just fine in production.
16:47 mmorgan bshum: Good to know :)
16:48 kmlussier mmorgan: on training? I just placed a hold.
16:48 mmorgan kmlussier: Really? In the client or the catalog?
16:49 kmlussier The catalog
16:51 mmorgan Ok, I see that. I've been trying most of the day, odd. :-(
