Hello everyone. I needed a little help. I'm working on Bug #978040 . I installed evergreen as per the instructions given in the website. I wanted to run the client server system, so that I can start checking the code as I try to fix the bug. |

Launchpad bug 978040 in Evergreen "No result found search for patron by database id results in return to wrong interface" (affected: 1, heat: 6) [Low,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/978040 |

I have a fair idea as to how the problem can be rectified. |
12:12 |
vanya |
But I'm unable to run evergreen on my system. |
12:12 |
vanya |
Can someone please tell me how to go about that? |

csharp |
vanya: what's not working? |
14:20 |
vanya |
csharp : I'm not getting the data from the main server (I think) |
14:21 |
vanya |
When i try searching for anything, it says: |
14:21 |
vanya |
"fmall.js: Error: File not found: http://localhost/opac/common/js/fmall.js" |
14:21 |
vanya |
I'm not sure what the error exactly is |
14:22 |
csharp |
vanya: as the opensrf user, try 'autogen.sh -u' |
14:57 |
vanya |
csharp : I tried the above command. Should I restart the client? |
14:58 |
vanya |
It is giving me the same error every time I pass some query to it. |

I think maybe I gave the wrong database name while creating the evergreen database. |
15:08 |
vanya |
Is there a particular name? |
15:11 |
csharp |
vanya: as root, do 'su postgres' then as postgres, do 'psql', then from within psql, do 'select from pg_stat_database;' |
15:12 |
csharp |
well, better yet, as root, do 'su - postgres -c "psql -c 'select * from pg_stat_database'"' |
15:12 |
csharp |
(ignoring the first and last ') |
15:13 |
vanya |
I ran the above command. |
15:14 |
csharp |
do you see 'evergreen' as a listed database? |
15:14 |
vanya |
Yes, I do. |
15:14 |
vanya |
Is that the database name? |
15:15 |
csharp |
yes |
15:15 |
csharp |
if you followed the installation instructions to the letter, your database is 'evergreen' |
15:15 |
vanya |
Oh. But I initially entered the name as evergreen only. |
15:15 |
vanya |
Just a second- I'll run that command again, and then restart the client. |
15:16 |
vanya |
Is there anything else I need to restart, in order to see the applied changes? |
15:16 |
csharp |
okay, as the postgres user, do 'psql evergreen' and do 'select * from actor.org_unit;' |
15:16 |
csharp |
if you see data there, you created the database correctly |
15:19 |
csharp |
vanya: restarting the client after running autogen is a good plan |
15:19 |
vanya |
I don't see any specific data- as in- there are entries like "example branch 1" etc. |
15:26 |
vanya |
I tried creating the database again, it told me it was being used by 6 other sessions- evergreen, pearllu, tablefunc, xml2, hstore and intarray |
15:27 |
vanya |
Is there any particular command I can give to update database? |
15:28 |
vanya |
Also, I was wondering if you could tell me what all I need to restart if I make some changes in the code and want to test them? |

vanya: seeing the example branches means you did that right - no need to recreate |
15:39 |
csharp |
as for what to restart, it depends on what you're changing - web-side changes probably just need a cache clear and/or browser/client restart |
15:39 |
csharp |
changes to perl require a restart of opensrf services |
15:39 |
csharp |
changes to the DB should be immediate |

Hi- I'm looking at the bitesize bugs on your tracker, are the any that are applicable for newbies? |
15:45 |
csharp |
Shilpa_: try asking that on Monday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EDT |
15:46 |

I'll remember that csharp |
15:49 |
vanya |
csharp : Also, while logging into the client, I get this error message as well : "fmall.js: Error: File not found: http://localhost/opac/common/js/fmall.js" |
15:49 |
vanya |
What can I do about that? |
15:50 |
vanya |
(I'm not sure if the warning is important or not) |
15:50 |
csharp |
vanya: that file is created by the autogen.sh script... are you seeing any errors when you run that? |
15:51 |
vanya |
No- it works perfectly. |
15:52 |
vanya |
"Successfully updated the organization proximity" |

One quick question: I noticed that all the installaztion instructions are for Linux, is it possible to run Evergreen on a mac? |
16:08 |
Shilpa_ |
Or can you compile it from source on a mac? |

Hello, I'm working on the file menu.js |
19:54 |
vanya |
Could anyone tell me what the variables usr_id, opac and bib_id represent? |
20:01 |
vanya |
Also, |
20:01 |
vanya |
I couldn't help but notice- the "Search patront barcode" option in the search menu and the "Retrieve patron by barcode" option in the circulation menu lead to the same page |
20:01 |
vanya |
Is it supposed to be like that? |
