when a patron is logged into the opac, is there a limit on how many items will be displayed in the Current Items Checked Out screen? |
09:58 |
krvmga |
a patron has told me he can only see 15 when he has over 30 checked out. i just tested it (checked out 37) and see all 37 in one screen. |
10:01 |
jeff |
krvmga: holds are paged at 15 now, i believe. if you have old templates, you won't have the right paging logic and you'll only be able to see 15. |
10:02 |
jeff |
krvmga: checked out items might be using the patron's search result preference? dunno. i haven't encountered the issue you describe, and haven't taken a moment to look at the code just now. |
10:03 |
krvmga |
i did my test with a dummy user. search results set to 10 per page. |
10:04 |
kmlussier |
krvmga: Did you verify that this patron does indeed have 30+ items checked out? |
10:05 |
krvmga |
kmlussier: yes, he currently has 32 out |

krvmga: If you can see 30+ on the current items checked out screen and another user can't, my first guess would be differences in the files on your brick heads. Or maybe the patron is looking at another screen, not the current items checked out screen. |
10:09 |
kmlussier |
For example, I think the "my lists" screen used to limit the user to 15 titles. Or maybe it was 10. |
10:12 |
krvmga |
kmlussier: i just tested the display from all five brickheads. the 37 items in my dummy account show up on all of them. |
10:12 |
krvmga |
kmlussier: i think it was 10 |

nods |

this is exactly what the patron wrote to me: |
10:13 |
krvmga |
I regularly have more than 30 items checked out at a time, as well as many requests. In order to navigate to the second page of my Checked Out items (items number 16 and above), I have to go to the second page of items On Hold; then the second page of my items Checked Out appears. But if I have over 30 items checked out, I cannot see more than the first 30; the final 6 of today's Checked Out items do not display. If after look |
10:13 |
krvmga |
ing at the second page of items Checked Out, I forget to navigate back to the first page of items On Hold, the second page of Checked Out items will continue to display until I change the On Hold display. |

Good morning #evergreen, I've got what I hope is an easy question. I'm trying to filter a report based on patron age by filtering for DOB between two values, but the date selector only lets me pick one value. Any suggestions? (My current filter is Date of Birth, with Field Transform: Date and Operator: Between) |
10:26 |
jeff |
it's been a while since i used that interface, but the fact that it isn't soliciting two dates from you seems unusual. |
10:27 |
tsbere |
Actually, I believe I know exactly what is wrong |
10:27 |
tsbere |
The template creation interface ignores the transform selector. If you leave it for "user selects..." the "build the report from the template" interface gets it right |
10:28 |
jeff |
ah. yes, the latter is the scenario i was thinking of. |
10:28 |
Melanion |
Ah, that'll work. I usually hard-code my filter values since most of my reports will be used by people who..aren't great with the reports interface, but this one just needs to run once. Thanks! |
10:32 |
jeff |
Another option would be to define a reporting view that defines those age ranges. |
10:32 |
jeff |
Also, the interface probably should respect the "between" transform and prompt for two values, if there isn't some existing undocumented way of specifying them... |
10:32 |
jeff |
And everyone should use something like Jasper Reports instead. ;-) |

11:08 |

yes, i see that. i had tested only from the tabbed interface. |
11:08 |

That is, the paging limiters. |

Quick migration question....I've noticed that Evergreen replaces our 001 tag values with the system assigned number. Any simple way to keep that from happening? |
11:51 |
jtaylor__ |
I see from other chat transcripts that others are using the 001 for the OCLC number, which we do so I assume that means the Evergreen number is not required in the 001. |
11:54 |

A related question...does that have to be changed directly in the database or is there an option through the interface? I found reference to it in the WIKI in 2010 and says it is supposed to default to disabled but is enabled in our database. I can't find any reference to this option the documentation so want to make sure I'm not doing a bad thing. |
12:14 |

Any thing else I should be aware of that this change would affect? |

How does it happen that the Summary amount a patron owes does not agree with what's on the bills screen? |

mmorgan: broken data, different ways of pulling in that data. Very likely a transaction is marked as finished while it still has a balance |
15:44 |
mmorgan |
So if a transaction is marked finished, it won't appear in the amount under the "Bills" button, but will appear on the bills screen? |
15:45 |
phasefx2 |
or maybe the other way around, I'm not sure |
15:45 |
phasefx2 |
I guess according to your screenshot that theory holds |
15:46 |

I can see this particular transaction does have a finish date. |

15:48 |
phasefx2 |
and the xact_finish got set today.. something triggered that |
15:51 |

hrmm, there are library settings that might affect this behavior too |
15:53 |

Yes, I believe the bill was forgiven today so the item could be deleted. |

This IS migrated data, but I have seen a few situations like this with data that was not migrated. |

Does anyone get a warning anymore when adding titles to a temporary list? I've checked my preferences, and I haven't enabled the setting to skip the warning. And I've cleared out all of my cookies. But I still don't get the warning in at least two systems. |

This message should come up when a user adds a title to a temporary list: http://www.screencast.com/t/guxMnhqW |
16:27 |
kmlussier |
But I don't see it on the demo server, which makes me wonder if it's broken in master, but still showing in systems that are using old files? |

I have a question as well. One of our catalogers has noticed a difference of behavior from 2.4.1 to 2.6.1. When cataloging a new marc record with fast item add, after the item details window opens, and you "Modify Copies" - the main window DOES NOT refresh and show the newly imported bib. |
17:22 |
Bmagic |
Looking at the code, I dont see any differences in volume_copy_editor.js or volume_editor.js between 2.4.1 and 2.6.1, any thoughts? |
17:24 |
hopkinsju |
The flow used to be Item import screen showing marc record to be imported (check box for fast item add) -> pop up window to modify copies (hit save) -> MARC view of imported record. This allowed them to go to Actions for this record -> OPAC view |
17:25 |
hopkinsju |
Now they have to open a new tab and search the OPAC |
