09:49 tsbere Vacations are wonderful while you are still on vacation. Coming back, on the other hand...
09:51 csharp tsbere: no doubt
09:51 * tsbere apparently has a list of things to do for getting ACQ working somewhere, but isn't sure what that list actuall entails right now or where he is supposed to be making it work yet
09:54 csharp I have an ACQ to-do list myself.  I'll probably be chattering in here about it soon ;-)
09:55 kmlussier tsbere: I can tell you what the list entails. ;)
09:55 tsbere csharp: Ahhh, but I get the feeling you have been involved in ACQ-related things. I just came off of vacation, and the person who was doing the ACQ stuff just went on vacation, and now I apparently have to deal with the pieces he didn't or had issues with......without having been involved in the process before now. >_>
09:57 tsbere kmlussier: Given that I appear to have a pile of emails that don't give me a good picture that might be a good idea.
10:06 csharp tsbere: yeah, I'm kind of figuring out as I go, but I've been doing it for months now, yes
10:07 csharp I'm working with someone who really understands the whole process from the library end, so that helps
10:22 jl- jcamins: hi
10:30 * kmlussier still owes PINES an e-mail regarding acq.
10:38 csharp kmlussier: received ;-)
10:38 * dbs sighs at an email from a librarian who issues patrons book barcodes instead of patron barcodes because they didn't bother to ask for a supply of patron barcodes :/

12:22 gsams bshum: looks like stepping it an extra day back is the best and easiest fix.
12:37 kmlussier I'm looking at the docs for marking items long overdue - http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.6/_mark_an_item_long_overdue.html. It says "Optionally the patron can be billed for the item price..." But I'm not seeing where that option is set.
12:44 hbrennan That's a Circ Policy thing isn't is? There's a spot for Max Fine Rules there
12:45 hbrennan I don't know where the rule is created though, to get it in the drop-down
12:45 kmlussier hbrennan: No, I don't think so. Long overdue processing is set to automatically charge the item price when an item is marked long overdue. We don't want it to do that.
12:46 jeff kmlussier: other than by using the new min/max item charge functionality, i don't think that there is a way to prevent long overdue from billing at least the price (or default price) of the item. the processing fee is optional...
12:46 hbrennan ahh
12:46 jeff and fwiw, i believe said min/max settings would also affect Lost as well.
12:46 kmlussier jeff: Yeah, I was just looking at that solution. But then it would prevent fees for being charged for lost. Ah, you beat me to it.
12:46 jeff the fact that some libraries use Lost and some use Long Overdue for different things is probably problematic.
12:47 kmlussier OK, so then is it safe to say the docs are wrong?
12:48 kmlussier If so, it's unfortunate because we probably would have included that option way back when we started our billing development project.
12:48 jeff with the usual disclaimer that i could be wrong, the docs you quoted do not match the code in master.
12:49 * kmlussier thinks jeff is right.
12:49 jeff billing-wise, what do you want long overdue to do?
12:50 * tsbere looks at the code and thinks it wouldn't be hard to add an OU setting to accomplish it
12:51 kmlussier This is for NOBLE. They don't want long overdue to do anything billing-wise. They want the items to change to a different status, they want to be able to apply a stronger penalty for long overdue items, and they want to send a new notice. But they don't want to bill until the item has been reported as lost.
12:51 kmlussier Is that right mmorgan?
12:51 jeff tsbere: that was my thought as well, which is why i asked kmlussier what behavior she was looking for. :-)
12:52 kmlussier I think they want long overdue to do everything it does except bill. :)
12:52 tsbere jeff: I was thinking "new arg for ou setting to check if we *should* bill, add it to set_item_long_overdue, bill automatically if the arg isn't set to keep lost working the same regardless, then add the ou setting to the system"
12:55 jeff reasonable. my thought was to add a new ous_ prefixed argument to the set_item_lost_or_lod call, and let that sub do the OU setting lookup, since that's where the other lookups are done currently.
12:55 jeff kmlussier: sounds like a wishlist!
12:56 tsbere jeff: That is basically what I was thinking, with the catch of "if the ous_whatever arg isn't set, bill by default"
12:59 jeff right

14:58 mmorgan Just to follow up on the long overdue issue, we want to make use of the status change on the item so that we can use the long overdue patron penalty.
15:00 jeff mmorgan: but you have no interest in the act of marking an item "long overdue" doing anything related to billing, right? No voiding/forgiving of overdues, no billing for the price of the item, etc?
15:02 mmorgan jeff: Exactly. No billing. Just informational for staff and patrons. And a block.
15:02 * jeff nods
15:02 jeff got it
15:02 mmorgan We don't want the system to bill anything until we can be sure we don't get negative balances.
15:03 * jeff nods
15:03 kmlussier Darn! Just an hour away from getting through my day with no mention of negative balances. ;)
15:04 mmorgan Oops, sorry :-[
15:13 gmcharlt just don't take the square root...
15:13 mmorgan Some days I feel like I might just try that :)
15:14 jeff ...or stare too long into the void
15:18 csharp @eightball Is the bad juju from the full moon on Friday the 13th still lingering on Monday the 16th?

15:46 kmlussier Is that a due date?

15:46 kmlussier Wow - impressive!
15:47 jeff this region is popular with time travelers.
15:47 mmorgan You should insist on interest with that!
15:48 bradl dunno, they may pay in some funny money
15:49 jeff bradl: we accept AmericanDiscoverMasterVisaExchange, bitcoin, and dogecoin.
15:49 jeff bradl: and imperial standard credits, of course.
16:03 gmcharlt jeff: what about Triganic Ningis?
16:06 csharp @timelord
16:06 pinesol_green csharp: Go away, or I'll replace you with a very small shell script!
16:06 gmcharlt ...
16:07 gmcharlt well, the Master is a Time Lord too, but still seems a little extreme
16:07 kmlussier Heh
16:08 * csharp needs to learn how to code supybot plugins so he can add @timelord and @fix
16:08 csharp "@fix" would just fix whatever problem you tell it to fix
16:08 kmlussier What would be the response for @timelord?

16:09 csharp probably some choice Doctor Who quotes?
16:09 gmcharlt or episode titles
16:10 mmorgan ... or a randomly selected Doctor incarnation
16:10 kmlussier It should be easy enough to modify one of the supybot plugins out there to do that.
16:10 csharp yeah, I think so too
16:11 * csharp still dreams about the "Fix" button in Evergreen that would apply a server-side patch to fix the problem you encounter
16:12 gmcharlt csharp: you DO like to live dangerously!
16:12 gmcharlt ;)
16:12 csharp and the optional "I'm Feeling Lucky" that would apply a random patch from master
16:12 gmcharlt lol
16:13 csharp live testing in the field!
16:14 tsbere csharp: Dependency issues on the random patch might be a bit annoying. "Oh, yea, that changes the function call made there, but you don't have the patch that *added* function....." ;)
16:16 csharp haha

16:18 * gmcharlt is not sure if it's a good thing that it would be pretty easy, all things considered, to implement csharp's button in Koha
16:22 bradl gmcharlt: with that button, Koha could increase their install ratio from 5 to 10 for each Evergreen install!! Think of the possbilities! /me ducks and runs
16:23 gmcharlt heh
16:24 bradl personally, I blame it all on rangi's New Zealand snack food junket out here
