hi, I need some help to install evergreen server on ubuntu 12.04. I am presently at step 10.2 of the installation where I should enter the line '--user <user> --password <password> --hostname <hostname> --port <port> \' i can tell you the information I entered but i am not sure how to enter them. Your help is highly appreciated. |
21:10 |
Jimmy_ |
my user would be evergreen the password is library as for the hostname i didn't change that I believe it should be localhost, I am not sure about the port either. |
21:56 |
jeff |
Jimmy_: the user and password there would be for connecting to your PostgreSQL database, and the port is usually 5432 |
21:56 |
jeff |
Jimmy_: if you're not using a database on another host/server, then the host would be localhost |

<jeff> great, I will try it right now and let you know |

Jimmy_ |
excellent it's working! thanks so much. I would appreciate if you can also help me to run the command ' pg_ctl reload' I get an error command not found. |
22:05 |
jeff |
try one of these instead: |
22:05 |
jeff |
/etc/init.d/postgresql reload |
22:05 |
jeff |
service postgresql reload |
22:05 |
jeff |
you might need a version number there also. |
22:06 |
jeff |
you said ubuntu 12.04? |
22:06 |
jeff |
"service postgresql reload" should work. |
22:07 |
* jeff |
heads away for a few |
22:11 |
Jimmy_ |
it worked also, wonderful! |

I am at step 10.3 now thanks to your great assistance. But eg_db_config gives me same error command not found |
22:20 |
jeff |
the eg_db_config command should be in a directory within the Evergreen directory -- you run it with: perl Open-ILS/src/support-scripts/eg_db_config --update-config etc, etc, etc |
22:20 |
jeff |
so if you extracted Evergreen to /home/opensrf/Evergreen-x.y.z, you'd want to be in that directory when you run the command starting with perl Open-ILS/src/support-scripts/eg_db_config |
22:23 |

great let me try |
22:28 |
Jimmy_ |
this works, but in fact the command I need to execute is 'pg_ctl reload' this is after I edited the file 'pg_hba.conf' |
22:30 |
Jimmy_ |
btw I finished the rest of the steps, they seem to work very well, but how can I actually open EG, I am not sure. Should i see an icon for it? |
22:43 |
Jimmy_ |
I will have to leave in few minutes unfortunately |
22:47 |
Jimmy_ |
<jeff> Thanks so much, I truly appeciate it. |
