08:50 kmlussier Good morning Evergreeners!

08:58 jeff good morning!
09:09 _bott_ So, how much snow is forecast for Boston tomorrow?  ...better this week than next.
09:13 dbwells phasefx: I wonder if the failed tests are a DST thing.  Maybe rewrite the circs to 20 days, one hour ago?  Obviously we would need to pick an interval where the number of fine calcs is the same regardless of the 'missing' hour.
09:16 phasefx dbwells: I think it is a DST thing
09:17 * Dyrcona snickers: "Tests...."
09:18 dbwells Probably easy to solve for now, maybe tricky to solve forever.  Maybe we would need to do X days and 12 hours to get away from the edges.
09:18 phasefx better to have tests to fix than no tests at all; as long as we do fix them
09:18 * phasefx is just tuit-less at the moment
09:23 kmlussier _bott_: Last I saw, Boston is mostly getting rain tomorrow. The snow will be falling a little further north.
09:31 dbwells phasefx: fwiw, those tests just ran fine for me.  Perhaps the problem is triggered when running within an hour of midnight.  If that is the case, I'm not sure what would be worth doing about it.
09:32 yboston joined #evergreen
09:32 phasefx dbwells: ah; in that case, I'm happy to move the tests to run later or earlier
09:32 phasefx still not perfection, but...
09:34 * phasefx will take good enough
09:35 dbwells I think that's a reasonable stance
09:39 * Dyrcona builds a fresh VM to rid it of clutter.

12:28 Dyrcona jeff: Do I remember correctly that you found a problem since the removal of AUTOLOAD in OpenSRF?
12:32 kayals Hi. I know it is possible to add new A/T for notices for SMS text messages. How do I create SMS notification for notices. Presently we have the 2 default stock SMS enabled.
12:35 csharp dbs++ # thanks I needed that

13:10 bshum I didn't get to reply to dbwells' suggestion, but I see "bugmaster@evergreen-ils.org" coming up so I assume we're testing a new LP account?
13:11 * kmlussier has already set up a filter to divert those messages.
13:11 kmlussier dbwells++
13:11 dbwells bshum: yes.  I'll reply to that thread once I get these bugs all moved so people can better see what they think.
13:15 kayals tsbere - was planning 3 day courtesy notice, 90 days overdue notice
13:18 tsbere kayals: Well, as I said: Holds have SMS info, there is no general notice SMS info currently available to send them out with. That complicates things a bit.
13:18 kayals ok. thanks
13:19 mrpeters csharp: i have the same!  migrations!

13:39 krvmga How do I answer the question "Are there APIs that a library can use on their websites to grab catalog data from Evergreen?" other than saying no.
13:40 Dyrcona krvmga: Yes?
13:41 krvmga Dyrcona: i like the way you think.
13:41 * Dyrcona is a bit. :)
13:41 dbwells :)
13:41 Dyrcona Actually, depending on what they want, there are SuperCat feeds that can spit out RSS.
13:42 tsbere krvmga: "Yes, but you might not like them" ;)
13:42 krvmga i think they think that there's magic in the opac/extras
13:42 Dyrcona I think they think its all just magic.
13:43 krvmga it's like "how do i get opac/extras/opensearch/1.1/-/html-full to work on our library web site?"
13:44 tsbere krvmga: My response is "Why do you want to?" which usually leads into them wanting full catalog functionality which leads me to say thing like "Why not just link to the full catalog?"
13:44 krvmga tsbere: i think you're on to something there.
13:45 krvmga they say things like "I'd be interested in both static metadata such as titles, cover, and descriptions, but also in transient data such as status and due date."
13:46 tsbere krvmga: If you can get them to the point of "and a way to place holds" then you can slap them with "that can only be done properly from the real catalog due to other concerns, why not link to the full catalog?" ;)
13:47 csharp "but what about my EBSCO discovery layer that points to my SOLR instance? can I place holds via my website from there?
13:47 csharp "
13:48 kmlussier I think there are many reasons a person might want to integrate OPAC data on their site without wanting full catalog functionality. Like publishing a new item feed or highlighting resources gathered together in a list.
13:48 Dyrcona csharp: "For 110 million US Dollars, you can do anything you want."
13:48 krvmga kmlussier: yes. we do that now.
13:49 dbs krvmga: there is also varying levels of structured data support, depending on the version you're running.
13:49 * csharp heard Dr. Evil's voice "one MILLION dollars!"

13:49 krvmga dbs: we're about to go to 2.5
13:49 krvmga we're still on 2.4 in production
13:50 dbs In 2.6 for example you'll get titles, descriptions, item statuses and (IIRC) due dates
13:51 dbs 2.5 doesn't have any item-level info in structured data
13:55 krvmga thanks, all. gotta run.
14:00 jeff Dyrcona: re: OpenSRF AUTOLOAD, I only ran into the issue fixed by commit 1e3a50f because I was mixing OpenSRF master with a local rel_2_5 era branch that didn't yet have the change.

21:16 hbrennan bshum: Hi. I was going to ask for advice on how to reset my password on freenode, but it appears it was not just me being overwhelmed and instead there was an attack in progress
21:16 bshum hbrennan: Yeah lately, there's been some more of that happening to poor freenode.
21:17 hbrennan :( I was just trying to make myself legit again
21:20 bshum Yeah
21:20 bshum It'll come together soon enough.  Those Freenode staffers work hard to fight the good fight.
21:21 hbrennan I should probably wait until morning. Hackers don't like those hours, right? :)
21:22 bshum Heh
21:22 bshum Perhaps wise.
21:50 hbrennan bshum: I've seen you talking lots about icons lately.. is that RDA-prep related? So volumes could have different icons in the same record?
21:51 hbrennan We just had a spontaneous conversation here in the office about combining e-book records with text.. but we can't now because the item type and coorsponding icon go with the record
21:54 kmlussier joined #evergreen
21:57 bshum hbrennan: Oh so the stuff I was talking about icons lately
21:57 bshum That's new development that was pushed for 2.6
21:57 bshum I'm not sure how much it'll relate to RDA
21:57 hbrennan ah alright
21:58 hbrennan Any changes to the bugle audio icon? I think that one is hilarious
21:59 bshum I think right now, all the new format icon stuff uses the pre-existing icons.
21:59 bshum Down the road, there was talk about making more unique ones.
21:59 bshum For stuff like the DVD vs. VHS vs. Blu-Ray especially could be nice.
21:59 kmlussier More icons are on their way. krvmga is working on them.
21:59 bshum Though the text alone is nice.
21:59 hbrennan awesome, that would be great
22:00 hbrennan we just separated our our blu-ray to separate cases
22:02 bshum Indeed, that will be cool.
22:05 hbrennan Ugh. IT guy sitting at my circ desk computer.. so I'll be away for a short time until he decides to take his feet off the table

22:12 eeevil csharp: tread lightly, friend!

22:12 eeevil ;)
22:12 csharp seems to have worked though ;-)
22:13 eeevil with great power...
22:13 csharp it executed on the master, and now I see it executing on the replicas
22:13 csharp I was nervous when I didn't see it simultaneously
22:16 eeevil yeay for LOCK TABLE.
22:17 eeevil csharp: adding a column?
22:19 csharp eeevil: running your hold prox speedup sql, actually
22:20 eeevil wheee!
22:23 eeevil csharp: just adding the trigger with execute_script,  yes?
22:24 csharp actually I ran the whole thing with it
22:24 eeevil the update need only be run on the master, I mean
22:24 csharp yes - only on the master
22:24 eeevil ah ... well, modern slony should be able to handle it
22:25 * csharp *whew*
22:25 csharp yeah - it looks happy ;-)
22:25 eeevil poke tomorrow if there are any issues
22:28 csharp yeah - I'll be on high alert ;-)
22:32 csharp excellent - already seeing the speed boost
22:32 eeevil sweet
22:32 csharp hold that took 73 seconds before yours and senator's changes took ~20 sec
22:33 eeevil well, that's better
22:34 eeevil each day will improve things
22:40 kmlussier csharp: Just catching up. Did you just apply the patch with holds targeter goodness?
