09:33 Dyrcona I also have a branch for Lp 1839002 but haven't added it to the bug, yet, because we haven't tested it. I plan to install it on training at the end of the day today.
09:33 pinesol Launchpad bug 1839002 in Evergreen "auto_renewal field stored as NULL/TRUE. Should be FALSE/TRUE" [High,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1839002 - Assigned to Jason Stephenson (jstephenson)
09:33 Dyrcona It takes a while to update the existing fields.
09:34 Dyrcona I will likely have something for Lp 1835085 by lunch time.
10:54 Dyrcona What does everything about removing an api in a bug fix. I think this api (open-ils.circ.renew.auto) was added as a result of misunderstanding.  The feature could easily have been implemented with an auto_renewal flag, the same way that sip_renewal and opac_renewal work.

13:25 * Dyrcona has a branch for that ready, too, but will wait to push it until after we've tested it. May be typos, etc.

11:53 Bmagic well, action.hold_request_permit_test still results in a failure "config.rule_age_hold_protect.prox" - It doesn't seem that this code consults the proximity adjustment table
11:54 Bmagic The hold rule that it choses is perfect. It's the one I created to specifically allow the two systems to lend to eachother. And it's an Allow rule. Even though it's an allow rule, the rest of the permit test code "IF hold_transit_prox > age_protect_object.prox THEN"
11:56 Dyrcona hold_transit_prox should be calculated using proximity adjustments. If not, that's a bug.
11:56 Dyrcona Could be your adjustment is incorrect.
11:57 Bmagic I'm using the system to adjust to the other system. Maybe I need to install adjustment rows for each combo of branches?
12:14 Dyrcona Maybe. I'd have to look at the script again.

12:18 Bmagic yeah, as I suspected, didn't change the outcome of the permit test
12:18 Dyrcona All right, my bad for giving you the wrong option...
12:19 Bmagic at this point, I'm 99% sure that it doesn't take into account the adjustments

15:07 mmorgan http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/3.2/_absolute_and_relative_adjustments.html
15:08 Dyrcona Unless, I misunderstand your situation, which is quite likely.
15:09 Bmagic mmorgan: that's what I was thinking but it doesn't seem that the hold permit test consults that. There are really two things: placing a hold, and targeting the hold. The hold targeter consults the proximity but not action.find_hold_matrix_matchpoint(
15:09 csharp Bmagic: we have a situation that's marginally similar - two separate systems that share A/V item holds
15:10 csharp they don't share age-protected things, though
15:10 * csharp looks at the hold policies
15:25 Dyrcona Proximity adjustment is what you want because age hold protect rules have a proximity.
15:25 Dyrcona Make them closer by using a smaller value.
15:25 Bmagic yep! Exactly!
15:26 csharp so this is why we tend to be pretty vague when libraries request unusual situations - we always tell them we'll have to test and make sure whatever they're asking works before they just assume it - we've had lots of those situations over the years
15:26 Bmagic so, if the hold matrix brought that into the equation, we should be gold
15:27 csharp and sometimes we can kill wild hare ideas with the dreaded "that would require development"

10:58 jeff but yes, I don't think anywhere in this conversation we've been suggesting making the PIN take the place of a password when logging into Evergreen as a patron.
11:00 jeff another challenge is "library PIN or password" as a label on some vendor sites.
11:00 JBoyer jeff, absolutely. But there is some value in making sure it's clear in the logs that no one discussing it would ever want it to work that way. I would imagine the first naive attempt to implement it would. "AND (pwd = ... OR pin =... )"

13:14 pinesol Launchpad bug 1779467 in Evergreen "Enhance Mark Item Discard/Weed Functionality" [Wishlist,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1779467
13:15 Dyrcona :)
13:15 jeff mmorgan++ thanks
13:15 Dyrcona jeff: I don't think it changes anything significant in the backend code. I reorganized it a little, but the functionality is the same. I deliberately tested it to make sure.
13:16 Dyrcona I don't recall if I tested with a damaged fee, though it did charge the price of the item when the settings were correct.
13:17 Dyrcona Others can answer for their testing of it. :)
13:18 jeff I wasn't too concerned with regression, just didn't realize that that bug had evolved beyond its title (though it was my first guess when you mentioned "recently made some changes to the mark items functionality"), and I'm curious to see if it interacts with some changes we've been using for Missing Pieces.
13:18 Dyrcona Ah, cool.
13:18 jeff There are things in Missing Pieces that I'd like to rip out, but I suspect would need to be placed behind an OU setting or flag.
13:39 jeff i don't remember without looking at docs what we did for "we're only going to charge them for a missing disc replacement fee, not the full price" -- i think it was "do that before the system bills full price". pretty sure we didn't suggest that the item price be adjusted down to the partial amount. that would have been silly of us.

12:09 csharp about to jump into a meeting, but I've been looking at bug 1796945 and am interested in discussing it so dbwells 's work can make it into 3.4 (if that's what we decide)

12:10 csharp I'm wondering if dbwells 's branch can be signed off on so we get its improvements and the issues that JBoyer and Tina found can be split off into a separate bug to be addressed later?
12:10 csharp (note that I've done zero testing so far - just trying to figure out a sensible approach)
12:11 csharp this also assumes that Tina's and JBoyer 's issues are not *caused* by dbwells 's branch (which is not obvious to me one way or the other at this point)
12:12 yboston joined #evergreen
12:12 csharp @eightball is this when I finally make the time and effort investment to learn the reporter's backend?
12:12 pinesol csharp: I doubt it very much.
12:13 JBoyer csharp, dbwells's branch helps re-align the generated SQL for xul and web reports, but the issues that pop up are there already, just hidden because you can't reliably translate reports without that branch.
12:14 csharp oh, I see - so that would be an argument in favor of spinning the newly-found issues into their own bug
12:14 JBoyer So his branch is a very important step along the way, but it doesn't really help much without fixing the underlying issue because while you can in fact clone reports now, you still can't actually edit them without things breaking.
12:15 csharp oh ok - again, I haven't tested the branch at all yet
12:15 * dbwells tries to catch up on that bug
12:15 JBoyer I've looked >< this much into how that could potentially be mitigated, but it's going to be a lot of uphill work.

12:05 berick my point is the combo is not the same as 2 sign-off's
12:06 berick it's 1 really good sign-off
12:07 JBoyer The other could be as simple as "I looked this over and didn't find any rotten code smell," if it's difficult to test directly. Just making sure that a fix to a weird problem doesn't accidentally introduce some local assumptions / policy is still valuable, even if you didn't encouter the original issue.
12:07 dbs It doesn't necessarily cover review for accessibility or other parts of the sign-off checklist that we're supposed to go through

13:34 alynn26 abneiman: There are a slight difference in what we are seeing vs what the documentation has. If you look at it there are some fields in the Carousel creater that are in the Bugsquash that are not there in the Docs.   There is Creating User and Editing User, which I would assume would autopopulate with the logged in user.  It may just be the version Bmagic has on the server.
13:38 abneiman alynn26: I won't have time today to go over it carefully, but feel free to send me an email with any discrepancies and I will follow up before we submit the community version
